We didn’t, our ‘latest’ AMRAAM on Eurofighter is C-5. AMRAAM D goes for F-35B for now until Meteor gets the green light.
EDIT: Eurofighter-wise and historically, only Germany should receive AIM-120D (designation AIM-120C-8), but as we know we’re in the ‘technical capability’ era so obviously Italy and GB will get it too.

[/quote]As far as I know, in reality, PLAN and PLAAF prefer the fixed radar which offers better detection range, facilitating their quicker missile launch followed by turning COLD. The relay guidance authority will be transferred to friendly units that have a view of the target through data link. Therefore, they all use fixed-array radars on their own aircraft models.
However, China did design a fixed radar with three surfaces for the JF-17 block3 of the export version, which could achieve a tracking angle of over 180 degrees.

Idk if they’re used on eurofighter or something else italy uses but at least a couple years ago they upgraded to c-8. They still use the 120d-3 on their F35s though.
I remember that the issue of weight gain seems to have been accepted.

I’m just keeping my expectations low so I doubt anything will change about the missiles and I doubt that they will make a massive difference for planes like the J-10C, F/A-18E/F and F-16C PoBIT.
For the J-10C it’s still nice since there really is no point not taking PL12A, but I think for the F/A-18E/F I will continue running majority AIM-120B and for the PoBIT I’ll probably run either only AIM-120B or 4x AIM-120B + 2x AIM-120D (PIDS pylons are DOA and useless though, no reason to give up 2 missiles for a mediocre MAW and more CMs).
If its not for the eurofighters then its for the F35s or the Av8bs that are still in service, though those are being replaced by f35b. Since the german eurofighters use c-8, BAE would already have a weapons entry for it ready to integrate too. I honestly am at a loss.
Gaijin: OK. The speed limit to display will be adjusted to 5 Mach (and the kinetic feature of the missile will remain unchanged).
Hold fast, the MICA was nothing special until something was changed about it ~10 months later. PL-12A and maybe even the AIM-120D (cope=max) someday may get adjusted.
I mean… I find the C-5s on the Hornets to be just as reliable. Of course, I’m not shooting stuff in people’s faces where the manoeuvrability of the AIM-120B would be preferred, but I like the excess energy of the C-5 regardless of what it’s fired from that gives it a slightly higher pK on a manoeuvring target unlike the AIM-120B.
to be fair, there’s nothing stopping GB or ITA using them on eurofighter. It’s just a simple AMRAAM. I guess it would be fair to assume it can or has, we (or at least, I) haven’t seen anything that says they do.
Its kind of sad what they did to these missiles. Hopefully, the bug reports for both the AIM120D and PL12A do something and gaijin decides to not heavily gimp these missiles.
The only thing i’m somewhat sure of is that the aim120d-3 isn’t integrated on the eurofighter, Only up to the C-8. The aim120d-3s are exclusively used on the f35 to maximize its capabilities as an a2a weapons platform. Plus they have meteor for the euro.
Whenever I used majority 120C-5 in my super hornet I noticed that I tried to play more for BVR, which usually ended up with me geting dumpstered by planes that are actually good at BVR.
Since I couldn’t fully adjust to find a middle ground so I went back to majority 120Bs, I still carry 4 120C-5s in some loadouts just in case though.
Do the IRST pod on the F18s have any functionality in game before release?
For now, the F-35s (at least in British service) will hopefully integrate Meteor any day now.
