bvr is 10km or more.
wvr is less than 9km
well by bvr i meant at the start of the game, you climb and get up to speed and shoot your missiles at the enemies 40-50km away, not just sitting up high and shooting at some guys 10-20km out, any plane can do that
i was saying its impossible to do bvr early game in the f18, i should have specified that since bvr does technically mean beyond visual range

even in eft its rare to get these ranges
So save your missiles and close in. Let your team do the early game bvr stuff. hold your alt and notch until youβre in the clear and then launch your missiles within 30km.
its not rare, i do it all the time, its just not possible with the f18e
if you get close in then thats not bvr dude, i said the f18 is good at closer range engagements
you have to be defensive for the whole first half of the game, then you can come back and start shooting after everyone has already done bvr
bvr is anything over 10km as my dude has already explained. even then i rarely launch my 120s closer than 10km unless im ambushed.
well ill say this, the f18e is bad at long range bvr
its nearly impossible to do long range bvr with the f18e, its meant for shorter range fights, which even then its not great at compared to the rafales and euros
Well yes. but most engagements in war thunder are under 40km.
theres genuinely almost no reason to pick an f18e over the f15ge or f15e
yea thats true but the f18 uses sub par missiles against planes that can easily outspeed and outturn you

They can out speed you and they can out rate you but they probably cant out 1 circle you especially at low speeds. The fact it can hit the notch faster and can bounce back out of it faster matters more in most situations than top speed or energy of missiles fired because notching is super easy and very consistent.
i think its energy retention is fine at higher speeds, it also turns fine at higher speeds so i can do bvr with it pretty easily, lots of planes are heavy and the rwr, gun, and missiles arent bad at all
youll be out of speed in 1 turn and they wont, which will open you up to third parties or getting energy trapped
the low cm count and no maws are the only downsides i agree with really, but the f15 has worse missiles, and also no maws
You were asking for disadvantages
To call something a disadvantage you need to compare it to something else and compared to other planes, the things I listed are disadvantages, as there are vehicles that perform better in those fields
