Major Update "Line of Contact" - Rumor Round-Up & Discussion (Part 2)

ngl other than the nacelle racks that could just work
nvm i forgot they mounted kh29s on those very same nacelles. itll just work if they put thei rmind to it

Anyone got that superhornet image where it has pods on the top of the fuselage (basically the CFTs with missiles in?

what ??

No block 2 uses them

The first delivery of block 3 was a few weeks before AIM-174 was first seen in war games. It was intergrated on block 2

Just curious why have you got a split personality account?

3 profile pictures.

You mean this?

The Advanced Super Hornet. CFT’s on top and a “stealth” internal bomb bay drop tank and an integrated IRST.

Would go so hard, was it ever built/tested or just proposed?

Built and tested apparently. There’s quite a few pictures of it.

Spoiler

From what I’ve gathered its the Block III.

Apparently comes with it does come with the CFT’s, enclosed weapon pods, a touchscreen cockpit although the CFT isn’t being pursued by the USN but is available for exported models.

I’m genuinely baffled this thing is real. I know the Block III Super Hornet’s are real but I didn’t think they had CFT’s and the EWP.

so… basically an External bomb bay?

Pretty much.

Should technically be able to carry them on the wings too but it havent been done yet

So uh… do they, like, roll over to drop a bomb?

On top are just standard CFT’s. The pod underneath is the weapons pod.

Oh alright that makes sense, I knew it was too weird to be true. Still, even that is quite unexpected, these types of projects are usually cancelled or sum (silent eagle for example).
What rcs does the superhornet get with those fitted and no external stores?

Yeah it looks like the current Block III have done away with the internal IRST and the CFT’s aren’t going to be used by the USN but kept the cockpit and engine upgrade. But apparently the CFT’s can still be used and are available to buy for export partners.

No clue. I can’t find any specifics on the RCS, just that the Block III and Advanced Super Hornet has/had a reduced RCS.
