Major Update "Line of Contact" - Rumor Round-Up & Discussion (Part 2)

Still dont get why they even addded that variant. Just add the t4 with ERCS mk.2 and PIRATE

yeah, but no dogfight happens ever in top tier where arm time becomes an issue. Only on youtube with these unrealistic dogfights

Since the F-15C GE is not foldered I doubt that the AESA EFTs will be.

Ok, i don’t care what happens in matches or not.
From a material perspective the MICA is not as good of a dogfight missile as the R-73, and that’s objective fact

ECRS Mk3? there is no such thing

Past T2 tranche doesn’t mean anything anymore, just denotes when the aircraft was built. Also, there’s no ECRS Mk.3, Germany uses Mk.1, Uk&It Mk.2

Atleast the F-15GE has some new Ground stuff

Also the captor e is an INSANE upgrade over the old eurofighters. The captor m was worse than radars at 10.7. Captor e is now the best radar in the game. Still should be foldered, but it’s a massive improvement. One of the eurofighters bottlenecks was that the radar was so ass that you coulndt lock enemies, and it was even feeding the missile with wrong DL info

All share the same gimbal limit no?
I saw people claiming the MK1 had worse gimbal than the others, when the only difference i’m aware of comes from inbuilt EW capabilities

mk.2*

The new t4 uses the mk.2 and pirate. only germany and italy have the t4

I actually personally dont mind it not being foldered, as down the road, it is the perfect platform to add ASRAAM (or the inferior IRIS-T :P ) and Meteors too and so it makes sense its not foldered.

But It does just need… a bit more, Striker II HMD, Litening V Tpod, eDASS, Some form of half decent GNSS stand off weapon, SAL Brimstone 2s, maybe an FNF like HOSBO or SPICE-250. and it would be more than enough to make it stand out from the current M-Scan Typhoons.

Agreed

As Kir said. Tranche becomes entirely meaningless after T2.

British T2s will have Mk2 and PIRATE and there is nothing being added as part of P4E that wont be added to exisitng airframes from what I understand.

Yeah at least the AESA EFT is a flat out upgrade over the previous EFTs, you can argue that the F-15C GE is a sidegrade or even a downgrade over the F-15C MSIP because of the BR increase.

I think they could give us a research discount or something for now, since it lacks those distinguishing features (idk like a 30-40% RP reduction if you already have a spaded eurofighter)

Well it doesnt become meaningsless. The german t4’s will most likely have the mk.2 and pirate that their t2 and t3 dont have.

Maybe, not something they’ve ever done before though. For now, im just gunna stick with arguing for a few new features

Actually, are they still getting Mk2s? I thought the plan had changed to upgrade the Mk1s, so that it would have capabilities more in-line with the Mk2

Difficult to say. Hensoldt, who makes the Mk.1, advertises it with ±90 limits instead of the ±100 from the Mk.2, but there’s some indication that that’s only because ±90 is the full power zone and ±100 is reduced power.

The Mk.2 is focused on EW from the outset, but the Mk.1 is being retrofitted for it as well (Mk.2 should still be better at it). Mk.1 also uses only GaN TRMs while Mk.2 uses a mix of GaN & GaAs, meaning that Mk.1 potentially has higher power output & range, but we’d need exact TRM counts and makeup to judge that accurately.

Hensoldt also advetises UHQ SAR for the Mk.1, meaning it can identify ground targets the same way some Radars do air targets currently. If Mk.2 can do that as will idk, I haven’t seen it advertised as such at least
