Major Update "Leviathans" - Rumor Round-Up & Discussion (Part 3)

It has a radar, it has BOL, even if it is somewhat nerfed it still has great FM

F-15 has radar ofc, but no BOL, and nowhere near as good of FM.

FM is also nice to have for things other than gunfight

THat doesnt work

That is reduced by 75% in effectiveness meaning its actually about 80 chaff.

It has 240 CMs vs the Typhoons 160.

its better than most at top tier

Cooked by everything in a short range missile and gunfight, even the flanker has R-73 to make up for not amazing FM

When I realized that we already have advanced SPAA, but there is a nation which doesn’t even have any IR A2G missiles and has to using KH29T as the main CAS loadouts

Right, and the same is true for the Typhoon. vs a Rafale or Su-30, there is nothing you can do. So I always avoid the WVR and stay in BVR

I hope they get their SLAM counterpart

This can only mean two things:

My first hypothesis: well soon see Rank IX in Ground Battles.
Which makes sense, considering how long we’ve gone without enough new content in Ground. Rank VIII didnt bring a large number of new vehicles at the top tier. What actually happened is that they decompressed and moved some vehicles from Rank VI to VII, and others from VII to VIII. Also, Rank VIII has very little variety and needs attention. A new rank is always a good moment to add more premium vehicles.

My second hypothesis: well soon see a massive rework of Ground BRs.
I think the lack of variety in the top ranks makes a BR rebalance necessary. They’ll add new vehicle types, especially with the new mechanics we’ve seen lately. They’ll also add more light vehicles and tank destroyers, since Rank VIII barely has any, or in some cases, none at all.
The new SPAA systems raise an issue: their BR. These SPAAs should go up to 13.0 or 14.0 like top-tier jets. Right now, someone in a premium Netz (BR 12.0) could face someone using an Ito90 or someone with an IRIS-T system, even though those two differ enormously in efficiency. SPAAs should have a BR that matches the aircraft they’re facing (from BR 12 to 14).

The third hypothesis is a mix of the two above:
Rank IX for air and ground, balancing aircraft and SPAA BRs, fleshing out Rank VIII with the types of vehicles its currently missing (LTs, TDs, more SPAA, etc.). Add one or two modern MBTs to Rank IX for each nation and sell Leopard 2A6 premiums at Rank VIII (just like Rank VIII jets such as the F-16 are already being sold).
Naval has massively accelerated its BR progression. I suppose the goal is to bring all three branches to Rank X. In Ranks VIII, IX, and X of Naval well see Cold War and modern era ships.

One more thought: we know submarines are coming soon. My final wish is to also see aircraft carriers, that way we’d finally have 5 full tech tree lines in Naval.
I just hope Gaijin doesnt turn submarines or carriers into a “premium only tech tree” like they did with helicopters. We all know grinding helicopters is a lie. If you want one, you either buy the premium or buy a talisman and all the modules with GE.

Yeah, so a typhoon can do well against a F-15 in WVR but can deal with Flanker and Rafale in longer range. F-15 can only really do BVR against 14.0’s, so just like Tornado F3 Late, it makes sense to have better BVR missiles than most others at the BR

honestly with high range SPAA being inevitable, its pretty much going to mean that spawning aircraft will pretty much be impossible unless ground maps overall were made much larger for both aircraft and tanks

Oh, bvvd already said the surface launched SLM can only reach 40km when launched from a plane :)
I bet they’ll spot similar marketing lies for the other SAMs and let CAS continue ruining GRB.

Sometimes I wonder if they even think at all before they speak.

Watch them add AIM-174 with surface launched range.

That actually reminds me, there is ground launched RIM-174 which could be nice SPAA for the US

Hey @DirectSupport if the Patriot is too much to add with the SAMP, do you think the Typhon launched RIM-174 would be more suitable to add sooner?

Would be cool if we got Typhon + SAMP update next

You underestimate how much damage a 750kg warhead traveling at mach 1.6+ would do.

It may not outright sink it sure. But the Iowa isn’t going to be in a good state afterwards. No ship is for that matter considering this is a thing that was designed to kill carriers.

How thick is the main armor belt on carriers? Not to mention, it wouldn’t even kill a carrier without multiple missiles

How is it buggy?

Meh, narrow scan is completely fine

Not being a boat, being able to turn and get in the notch faster

so, 750 kg HE shell with 544 m/s? It is basically level of Saschen’s shell, which often struggles damaging 6.7 battleships with AP.

STR, ITR, Max speed, supercruise speed, rip speed, G-tolerance are all underperforming by quite a bit

Great if you are in ARB and have a marker telling you exactly where the enemy is, useless in ASB when trying to find the Rafale or Su-30SM that has insta found you on their radar and is about to send a swarm of ARH at you.

Im sorry, anyone who describes the F-15 as “a boat” needs to go spend a year playing the Tornado F3

Possibly but, as other’s have mentioned, it’s actually pretty accurate for a first attempt. It’s beating everything it should and losing to everything it should (i.e. winning in slow speed horizontal turn fights, losing when in vertical fights)

It’s staying true to the name, like the low tier zero, as long as people don’t get baited into dogfighting with it in unfavorable scenarios, they can dictate the fight while the F-2 can only react

Fair enough then. I guess its just an F-16 with a bigger wing, nothing for Gaijin to blame on “Game limitations” there
