You underestimate how much damage a 750kg warhead traveling at mach 1.6+ would do.
It may not outright sink it sure. But the Iowa isn’t going to be in a good state afterwards. No ship is for that matter considering this is a thing that was designed to kill carriers.
STR, ITR, Max speed, supercruise speed, rip speed, G-tolerance are all underperforming by quite a bit
Great if you are in ARB and have a marker telling you exactly where the enemy is, useless in ASB when trying to find the Rafale or Su-30SM that has insta found you on their radar and is about to send a swarm of ARH at you.
Im sorry, anyone who describes the F-15 as “a boat” needs to go spend a year playing the Tornado F3
Possibly but, as other’s have mentioned, it’s actually pretty accurate for a first attempt. It’s beating everything it should and losing to everything it should (i.e. winning in slow speed horizontal turn fights, losing when in vertical fights)
It’s staying true to the name, like the low tier zero, as long as people don’t get baited into dogfighting with it in unfavorable scenarios, they can dictate the fight while the F-2 can only react
It’s pretty much what I was hoping for, a better F-16AJ (though admitedly this exceeded my expectations because it can still compete with Rafale and EFT in rating).
My personal experience in my AJ is that I rarely lose to EFT/Rafales because I rarely run into that smart pilot that knows to take advantage of their thrust, but also since I play mostly ground RB, they can’t do that either without getting into SPAA height. So having something that’s better than the AJ is just perfect
For air RB, the F-15J(M) is just better, but there is a fun rat gameplay to be had with the F-2 that I will enjoy.
For ground RB, the F-2 will truly shine as a dogfighter and mayhaps have some useful CAS (maybe ASM-2s as well), but I think currently, Thai Gripen might be better there anyway
Which is basically what it is rn lol
Not only structural but also electronically, which is also something that people miss when they just compare the two visually
Given that it can go toe to toe with current top tier, I think it can be BR 20 and still be fine right now lol. When 5th gen comes though, things will be interesting…
I think the F-2A’s drag is slightly too low while maneuvering right now (not by much) but the basic characteristics is there, might be some slight tweaks here and there before the live server drops but so far it’s looking good.
I heard the engine is weaker than it should be but I haven’t really looked into it. I’m just waiting for changes this upcoming week. Though I’m hopeful since it’s not obscenely broken like launch Gripen or anything like that
For drag its kind of hard to say, some wing profiles are a hair too large, which helps, but also the elevator deflects way more then IRL. I wouldn’t say its a perfect modeling, but all the things off are off in very minor ways in different directions, so it about averages out to a fairly accurate overall model. (excluding high speed compression issues)
the SLM missing about 45% energy man it should be Maximum speed exceeding Mach 3 as (official brochures 2023) stated
and it has plenty of Verified in live fire tests Ukraine engagements (2023) Intercepted Kh-47M2 Kinzhal (Mach 10) by high-altitude and so on
SLM can barely do Mach 2 after 15 seconds of burn when it should be Mach 3.2 at peak velocity and this speed should be on the 20km not after 6km only which is insane for an irist
and i try the slm couldn’t pull more then 30g and cant even mention that either its really weird should be 60g and TVS should be better than mica em if you guys fought vs that missile
even QH17 Chinese missile hit 2.60 with ez and can mention that till 15km while slm can go beyond 12km and hit moving target
somebody needs to report lack of energy it has
i have just some little information on it like
Wind Tunnel Testing
Diehl’s 2018 tests confirmed the missile achieves Mach 3.2 at 15 km with a boost thrust profile “exceeding 200 kN” which is good and that is in ([Janes Defence, 2019] (https://janes.com/)) and “Acceleration to Mach 3 within
8 seconds at high altitude” (IRIS-T SLM Brochure, P. 12).
and in Ukraine Engagement (Oct 2023)
IRIS-T SLM intercepted a Shahed drone at 17 km range while still accelerating – matching the extended sustain thrust profile (Source).
