you stand less of a chance in bvr combat ??? cause he can just notch or multipath
all chaff is highly inneffective against Fox 3’s, and the F-15 runs rather hot even with Afterburner off, plus IRCCM missiles are rather hard to flare by design and with being a brick evading IRCCM missiles is rather hard while flaring
WVR he may be better if you can notch and jink youll win most likely
you think F15 hot try F14A
BOL chaff is 1/4 the strength of regular CMs at the moment.
How is that relevant to BVR combat with ARH?
if you read just a bit further youd see the context
Is there an invisible wall that lets missiles pass but not jets?
I still dont see the connection. Last time I checked. Aim-9Ms had an effective range of about 3km. If an F-15E and Typhoon are fighting each other at 40km. When is a Typhoon ever going to get an Aim-9M off.
So your answer is. Dont run any AMRAAM, just run 6x Aim-9M and multipath/notch until the F-15E has run out of Aim-120C5s and then put an Aim-9M up its tail pipe?
That too me sounds like the Typhoon needs a BVR buff. Like getting Aim-120C5s
Strawman much?
You are avoiding talking about WVR, which happens a lot. Not like 120’s have nuclear warheads that guarantee nothing within 20km
Yes, because in my experience, WVR is where aircraft go to die.
Rafale with Magic II and MICA or Su-30SM with R-77-1 and R-73 will eat a Typhoon alive with high off-boresight shots.
Sitting high and fast, using AMRAAMs is the only place Ive found that the Typhoon is actually even slightly good. Especially with how weak BOL are at defeating anything at close range.
Not every battle happens beyond 15km. Alot of combat happens at close range still
Sure, but if a typhoon closes the gap on an F-15 it’s probably winning
And Typically if the fight is looking like its going WVR (in SB) I turn around and get the hell out of there. I know im completely outclassed without HOBS.
I’ll only dogfight if I absolutely have no choice and its an absolute chore without a radar that works at close range and with the worst dogfighting missile in the game
Btu thats the point. The Typhoon will now be constantly forced onto the defensive because the F-15 can just keep it at bay with Aim-120C5s
and if the F-15 wastes all 8x AMRAAM on a single Typhoon, then he deserves to take an 27mm Mauser blast up the tail pipe
So it would just have to move closer to F-15 while occasionally defending, then pop an AIM-120A or two and then the F-15 has to fall back if he doesn’t want to fully focus on you, which you even said was dumb
2 million RP needed to get through rank 6 US atm, just fyi
I still dont see the argument here.
The F-15 doesnt have the FM of a Tornado. Turning isnt going to make it stall out of the sky.
So Typhoon tries to engage an F-15E. It fires An Aim-120C5 well beyond the range of an Aim-120B. So the Typhoon is forced to defend. it turns back in. F-15E fires again, it defends again. Repeat until the F-15 has run out of missiles?
Yeah but if the F-15 is forced to run to live, while the Typhoon can comfortably close in knowing it has superiority once it’s within 120B effective range, which is really better?
Then Tornado F3 Late to a lower BR than the F-15A. because once the F-15A has dealt with the Tornado F3s 4x AMRAAM. It can go in for a free kill?
