Major Update "Hornet Sting" - Rumor Round-Up & Discussion (Part 4)

Reminds me of a GTA vehicle. Not copied enough to sue but just different enough lmao.

Gripen and F-35 one night stand baby lol

Yes, it’s only for AAMs, but I feel like SAMs should have something like that.

I mean, in real life they probably don’t have a lead indicator because they don’t need one when the system tracks the target and the trajectory is calculated properly and not like it is in WT

Kinda feels like an ace combat design also like the Shinden. Pls snail ace combat crossover i beg pls

Idk if the loss of unsinkability is true(prob a bad idea still), but hydroshock seems cool

It’s like an R-23T if it was good

Had it entered production it would’ve been the oldest IRCCM missile to enter service.

It did exist so gaijin could add it, maybe a unique event vehicle or in place of Aim 9L on the JA37Di.

Jaden has more info on the missile but ircc they made like 20 or so with a few test fires.

It was strapped to the Viggen at one point so I don’t see any issues

Was mounted to Drakens also. Its an old missile and its very unique. Id love to see weapons like this in warthunder.

That and the Austrian one with the AIM-9P-5 would be great Draken additions

Didn’t the falcon have some IRCCM properties? Not sure though

I dont remember, sweden had modified falcons amd skyflash but neither are present in game.

Would love falcons though.

Thats if it doesn’t go to Germany.

Found Jadens old post in my bookmarks. He knows way more about the unique missiles than i do.

Pretty sure every IR missile that’s newer than the AIM-9B had some IRCCM properties. They didn’t just wait until the AIM-9M, Magic II, R-73, etc to work on ways to counter flares lol

Is this a IR missile or radar?

IR, Rb73 iirc is the modified and better skyflash. Rb72 is IR

What’s the range of this missile? 10km?

Sorry again for the ping Jaden.

Pretty sure Rb.73 is what the Swedes would called the Skyflash Mk 2 (or Active Skyflash)

You’d have to ask Jaden idk off the top of my head.
