blue vixen and AWG-9 are 2 different classes of radar. AWG-9 with a skilled operator would beat blue vixen. APG-71 would probably give CAPTOR-M some competition
Yeah the Russian radar is bad because well it actually is a pretty bad radar irl and iirc it is missing features but the EF is just bugged.
I would still confidently put my money on a 1990/2000s radar being better than one designed and built in the 1960s.

Yeah, hopefully the scan bar bug fix will help a bit there.
But yeah, from a few people who’ve commented on both their experiences in the Su-27 and Typhoon. They prefer the Su-27s radar because its bad but fairly accurate. Typhoons radar is bad and just makes them mad

F14A and B have same radar so im gonna base it off the A manual
well APG-71 is from 80’s and very powerful, so it should be able to compete with early CAPTOR-M

I mean I would still take a EF because the R-77 coupled with a terrible radar is just so sad. I wish we had something like the MiG-29M (with a fixed flight model bc for some reason the MiG-29s flight models are still terrible) where you can carry a decent amount of missiles including the R-77 on an aircraft with a good radar it would probably be 13.7

Nothing solid, just know that Blue Vixen is considered on-par to superior to the AN/APG-73 found in the F-18C.
based upon messing about with the F-14A IRIAF. I prefer the Foxhunter and Blue Vixen over it massively

That’s why Im thinking the SU-30 is going to be a fairly decent aircraft. Going to have one of the better radars at top tier and that R-77s have been just handicapped by a poor radar more than anything else
Yeah the only issue with it is the drag on the R-77 and R-77-1 is still complete bs so it is imo still worse than the AIM-120 by a long shot
I disagree as I use them on both the MiG-29SMT and Su-34 and they are imo the worst of the modern ARH missiles in the game only being better than the AIM-54

Yeah… Though in fairness. Aim-120 is also underperforming by quite a margin. So if both were fixed. Im not sure how much would actually change relatively speaking. At least in terms of max range

AWG-9 was ahead of its time. only held back by older electronics, which was resolved with AN/APG-71, which is incredibly good
Not at supersonic and subsonic speeds iirc its the transonic speeds where it had more drag than the AIM-120

I mean ground effect is also an issue as you can just hug the earth at any range and boop ARH missile is useless

Im finding that in aircraft like the Typhoon, which quite happily operate and survive at 20-30k ft. I get kills no matter what height you hide at, because I can just shoot down. Cant wait for the improved radar controls, going to make life so much easier in the coming update for shoot down
