Major Update "Hornet Sting" - Rumor Round-Up & Discussion (Part 3)

Still think it should be under the F-14 and folder both A and B together

F-22 Raptor Specifications
From the USAF website has a really low quality spec sheet of the F-22 with external missiles available
F-22 Raptor > Air Force > Fact Sheet Display
Also from the USAF saying it can carry 6 AMMRAMs and 2 AIM-9, but no mention of external weapons

so, who really knows what it can do?

The pentagon

I agreed, mid =/= doa

Even the 18E is really mid at 14.0, as it will get dunked on both in bvr and dogfights, but nothing wrong with adding a mid plane every now and then.

Legacy hornet F-18C or F-18A is coming as a premium so it doesn’t matter whether it is DOA or not.

Soon to be axed pentagon lol

It’s a distinct possibility, but even they might be clueless as to the true capability of the F-22

How do you know, have they released something that I missed?

Well then lockheed martian and raytheon. I believe what you’re saying though. The F22 true power has definitely not been released to the public yet.

yes, more resistant to jamming (may matter in a couple updates), can be used as jammers, maintain track outside of selected search area, can constantly updates TWS tracks, and generally have better performance in all areas than the M-scan radars they replace, to name some other things

another really big thing that doesnt matter ingame is the leap in reliability from M-scan to AESA. its also the IRL drawback of the new EFT gimballing AESA radar

IRL? maybe.

Currently in game? it’s just a bit faster scanning normal radar afaik.

but would gaijin model LPI?

Welp that is a super hornet. I’m wrong it won’t be DOA better engine better radar more weapons will allow it to fight more competitively

Finnish Air Force - 55 F-18Cs and 7 F-18Ds in use as of 2021”

All negated by the increased weight though this one, the increase in weight is more than the increase in engine thrust as far as I could find.

Personally, I think they’ll stick to the 6 + 2 loadout at least at first, it guarantees balance as they can always add more later, whereas I imagine there’d be riots if they took missiles away

Also, the iconic look of the F-22 would be slightly ruined if they gave it external missiles

wiki says older RWRs (like J-11A spo15) are useless against LPI (low probability of intercept) radars like f18e aesa
