I think AIM-120C-5 would be ideal; it’s currently in service in many countries operating Eurofighter and also the U.S, so it would feel right in terms of immersion, and it would be a good upgrade over AIM-120A/B, while not being as broken as C-7 would be, for example.

considering the captor m is still a buggy mess, most radars are better. We just gotta hope they drop the fixes they promised with the patch or else its stuck with a buggy mess of a radar.

I was guessing they’d add the F-18E last update but not surprised to see it on this one, skipping the A and C. However no mention of F-2 is disheartening. Especially since J-10B is probably coming since it was leaked before.

I am VERY interested now, then!
The current meta is defined by Fox-3s; not just the amount and quality of them, but also the quality of the radar of the platform.
Right now, on Eurofighter, it may be a skill issue- but I keep getting locked on and shot at by planes that my radar can’t even detect, and let alone get a lock on, even when I am seeing them with my eyes already.
If F/A-18E is 12x AIM-120s with a good and RELIABLE radar, I can’t wait for it; even if it has worse speed, acceleration and climb rate. None of those are as meta-defining as the BVR capabilities are at the present time.
On the other hand, if things get personal in close dogfight combats, F/A-18E’s superior agility will still be handy despite the worse top speed- and, at the end of the day, top speed isn’t all that important on close range dogfights. Top speed is more about climbing and cruising.
what about F-35 or F-22 AESAs
These are all pretty important for BVR combat. Especially speed. These are exactly why the F-15E and a fixed eurofighter will still walk all over the 18E in bvr.

I dont wanna be that guy but i guess i will. The fa18e is one of the chunkier hornets and is more bvr focused. It will lose pretty much every time to a eurofighter or rafale in a dogfight. Even the f16c would be better in a dogfight though the hornet would have a 1 circle advantage.

It might better Eurofighter Typhoon Tranche 2 Block 15 standard, especially Super Hornet Block 2 standard
Not wrong, Super Hornet Block II better F-2A Early with J/APG-1 AESA radar

I for one am still looking forward to it, I think that so long as it’s competitive enough, even if it’s not meta, I’ll enjoy it.
I’m excited for it as well. It should be quite competitive if the radar doesn’t get the eurofighter treatment. Especially if they give it aim120c-5.
I don’t think they will give it the C-5 straight away, but maybe later in the year it will get them when other US fighter aircraft don’t

currently, no American fighter has an AESA radar. the F/A-18E could be the first. it also has a centerline IRST/fuel tank it can mount
I love the hornet but it will be DOA for RB. The only way it’ll be good in sim is if they fix the freaking maps and make carriers useful!
Everyone saying it won’t is wrong and i’m sorry. I love the ting but its use IRL will not be represented in game.

If it were a Legacy or early one, I would agree; but if it’s the AESA Super Hornet, I think it can be very neat; specially if Gaijin has the guts to give it AIM-120C.
