Major Update "Hornet Sting" - Rumor Round-Up & Discussion (Part 3)

But see, that would take away valuable dev time for things like the Auction system that the community was desperately asking for

all im saying is, because the turrets that were used on the HMS tiger were originally built for the Minotaur before the project was scrapped she was techincally laid down

I yearn for a cruiser that can put more shell weight down range in a minute then most battleships

Yamato has thickest armor and biggest guns by long shot.

Iowa has good firepower, great fire control, best speed, great secondary battery, great AA, good armor

I hope for everyone’s sake that we won’t see WW1 submarines
They would be horrible to play

*greatest shell dispersion and longest reloads

Both Yamato and Iowa will have the largest crew size for bbs as well adding to their survivability in WT

I think it will be:

1- H39
2- Bismarck
3- Yamato
4- Vanguard
5- Iowa

For two very simple reasons:

1: the turtle back armor schemes shine in War Thunder’s map ranges, making H-39 and Bismarck have an edge in survivability.

2: the meta is currently highly defined by rates of fire. In that regard, once again, H-39 and Bismarck have the edge with their 26 second reloads.

Then, Yamato; it has extreme raw protection and firepower.

Then, Vanguard’s protection will be its saving grace…

…while Iowa’s armor will be extremely weak at the ingame ranges. Iowa’s armor was designed for ranges well beyond those ingame. At the ranges ingame, the 307mm thick belt will be sliced like a hot knife through butter; not to mention the infamous barbettes shell rooms, which are an extreme weakness ingame for “gameplay reasons”

So nuke shell justified?

We still have cool choices for France for WW2

Not a problem at all.

True, true

If it lands hits it’s doing a lot of damage though

What about Jean Bart ?

Similar armor and sometimes slightly bigger than Bismarck on some part of the ship,
Shells with more pen and HE filler…
26 second reloading time i can found too.

It’s the 1943 refit leaked, so not the best that existed but still ~50x20mm and 14x quad 40mm for AAs.

Surcouf will get bodied the second it tries to use its guns
2x203 on an extremely fragile hull will 100% lose duels against pretty much anything except reserve destroyers

assuming it doesnt just punch through and do no damage since I doubt the shells will be accurate to try and hit ammo

only reason i’d play naval would be for this thing, and i’d still probably just give up after getting to rank 2

dont forget far better angles to fire from with all 8 guns, I honestly think people far over estimate Bismarck because of one lucky shot lol

if you look at the service of the class as a whole they sunk a SINGLE ship between the 2 of them

I just took a look at its armor- and HEH! Perhaps it will be the king after all. Ingame, having all guns in two turrets gives you the ability to angle the ship in a perfect diamond position.

We are talking about a 327mm belt with a 50mm thick sloped deck behind. Bismarck had a thicker raw plating; but Jean Bart’s ability to angle at even 60° will make it incredibly resistant.

Most of the damage will come from the turrets and barbettes; and maybe bulkhead penetrations if unoptimally angled.

Still, can fire torp from the front, rear and side, not have to only relly on it’s gun, that’s just a fun things more to do.

So the only saving grace of Iowa is accuracy and speed

Apparently hit 35 knots

People usually overestimate Bismarck because it’s German, the same way they underestimate (or just don’t know) the Jean Bart because it’s French, less mainstream…

Dont forget about these
