Major Update "Firebirds" - Rumor Round-Up & Discussion (Part 3)

OML, so who figures out how good it is my guy?

The people that test it.

Test it?

could be display or prototype, but I don’t think any prototypes were tested on the gripen so far

What confuses you?

The fact you think there is some objective test to determine how good a plane is in air RB

There is, though. A vehicles flight performance doesn’t change from player to player. The MiG-29 will always be the MiG-29, and the Mirage 2000 will always be the Mirage 2000.

can’t tell if you’re serious or not… yes… but your DETERMINING of how GOOD a vehicle is OVERALL is what is opinion based

You can test each individual part of an aircraft objectively and determine its overall performance based on those things. The F-15J(M), for example, can be said to objectively be the best fighter in game due to having the best combination of flight performance, weaponry, and radar.

That is literally you just making a judgement call based on your own opinion of the plane. There is nothing objective about what you think you’re doing.

I’m using objective performance of the flight model, radar, and missiles of the F-15J(M). Nothing about it is subjective.

The J(M) has a lighter airframe compared to both the F-15C and the Baz Meshupar, and it gets the AAM-3 which is superior to AIM-9M in kinetic performance. So yes, the J(M) is objectively the best F-15 in the game currently before the update drops.

That is no lineup that is a god damn battlegroup!
How many vehicles do you need in one match?!

Does the lightness of F15JM still open up an arguable debate when it comes to how it compares against F-15E/I, or does the raw thrust increase of those new arrivals just put them clear?

I’m too lazy to do the math myself, but people on the DCS forums essentially did the math already and were debating the about the E and C.

F-15C Empty T/W: 1.65

F-15E Empty T/W: 1.84

Even with the weight reduction the JM probably won’t come close.

The J(M) isn’t that much lighter than the F-15C. I haven’t checked myself but it shouldn’t be anything more than 500kg of weight reduction. Probably closer to 200-300kg.

I just checked. J(M) empty weight is 13,150kg compared to 13,590kg of F-15C. In the grand scheme of things the F-15E now with uprated engines still has notably better thrust to weight.

Even so, I meant theoretically, not that it’ll make a noticeable difference most of the time.

I’m very interested to see how CFT’s (even when depleted) affect the equation. Whether that aerodynamic hit is substantial or not.
