Major Update "Firebirds" - Rumor Round-Up & Discussion (Part 3)

I also dont get the whining but ICE change is straight up bs considering all of 3rd gen fox3 carriers.

@Smin1080p_WT may i make a small request
devs are working hard rn and i just want to see a small modification for an already existing vehicle.
and its pretty low effort too considering

FlaRakRad EM could be made a modification to the existing FlaRakRad (as was done irl).

while the Osa for germany is a great blessing over the FlaRakPz (which is functionally useless against jets), at top tier i and all German players would really appreciate such a, imo needed, upgrade to our anti air capability.

Hi @Smin1080p_WT, I am happy to see you are adding both a TT and PP JA 37Di.
Still a little confused as to why we have to see the 37C and 37D exist without their model-specific kit (RB 74+ BOL, and RB 99 respectively) but we’ve had this discussion over at Maho’s before.
Anyways, back to the 37Di:

I presume this will be a situation similar to to the Japanese F-4EJ and F-4EJ (ADTW) coupling where the TT and PP variants are identical save the livery(/-ies) and names.
Can you reveal anything about which division or unit the premium Di will belong to?
I noticed the 37Di found in the files is fin #52 belonging to F4. Will this be the premium or TT variant?

As a small humble suggestion for me I think it would be very appropriate and very much an interesting choice to make the premium fly with the colors of Försökscentralen (FC) which could be approximated as the Swedish equivalent of China Lake. They did essentially all and any major prototyping, test programmes, development of new tech etc.

This airframe (37347) was used as the build prototype for the 37Di and was indeed the first proper Di. As you can see it received the orange nose ring indicating FC ownership and its fin was painted with a Swedish flag containing "iNTEROPERABILITY to indicate its new role; using NATO-aligned instrumentation.

It would for sure make for an interesting premium and like the F-4EJ ADTW it would indicate a very specific unit rather than just a random normal flight line unit.

One thing I want to know is why the Viggen Di has a cockpit in Swedish and in metric units on devserver, when the only thing that sets Di apart from the D version is that the cockpit in Di is in english and in imperial units. That i in Di stands for “international”.

Are they really going to charge 70EUR or more for a plane and not even bother doing the bare minimum after pressing CTRL C + CTRL V? I made more effort today going to the toilet in the morning, where is my 70EUR? If Gaijin wants to keep the cockpit in Swedish/metric, that´s fine. But then change the name to JA37D and give it a different skin.

My guess is they had no photos of Di cockpit so they modelled it after regular D or they wanted to kill both birds with one stone and make a unified cockpit that would more or less fit both JA37D and Di.

I am pretty sure that if they gave 200SEK to some Björn War Thunder enthusiast, he would happily go into the Swedish museum and snap a few pics of the cockpit. I mean charging 70EUR for this just doesn´t feel right.

With all seriousness we are finally getting proper D model cockpit in game and I’m happy as a kid that my favorite aircraft is also coming to the game. I couldnt care less about having or not having the cockpit in English at this point when there are way more important features that are missing or need adjustments.

I’m just happy its not another J35XS treatment when it got no AIM-4, completely wrong cockpit and no techtree equivalent.

We should focus on pushing for radar and HUD changes instead of focusing on something of such low value as cockpit language. Posting these reports below just in case:

Yeah the biggest issue with cockpits for me personally is the lack of radar symbology on HUDs. There’s loads of aircraft that should have it but they just don’t and all the reports on it just go completely ignored.

Yes, the J8F was good when it didn’t have the PL-12, but it feels good with them too. It has a good radar and RWR.

Gaijin should introduce a version of the J8 with the PL-8 and without the PL-12, so that there would be two planes with different gameplay.

As for Vigen, I think the requirement to introduce a plane with the AIM-120 in TT is fair.

The tech tree JA 37Di is cool, but the same copy pasted vehicle premium will not solve the already existing issue with rank VI and VII Swedish premiums: They are not even mid and the solution should not be paying 5$ more

Type-o or did i miss something?

A decision that saddens me to this day.

Iirc Smin said yesterday that a tech tree 37Di was also planned to come at the same time.

Sweden needs more vehicles in sub top tier brackets. Finnish Hawk, F-35 (Draken) and J35J (with flares) or J35O for example. Hawk would fit perfectly after Saab 105G, F-35 after A32A and J35J foldered with J35D.

In this update? Or an abstract possibility?

I remember how we were promised A-6 in TT two years ago.

This, but I think J35Ö should replace J35XS as a premium, Finnish draken should be placed at the TT and J35J can be a squad vehicle.

And my first claim again, there should be a premium SH 37 with AIM-9Ls instead of a reskin premium JA 37Di

This update. It was confirmed.
