Major Update "Firebirds" - Rumor Round-Up & Discussion (Part 3)

I have flown nearly all deltas in warrhunder and the viggen is by far the most garbage damage model ive ever played. Literally just have to avoid damage af all cost

Hold up buddy, Viggen is not trash. It doesnt have good energy retention and loses a lot of energy in tight turns but you cant underestimate this airframe. F-4 only really peaks in mid speed performance while Viggen is far better in low speed and high speed dogfights. Its also much easier to snap yourself on target with Viggen.

Been there, done that :P

I love the mig 21 and they shouldn’t be the same br. I have a more consistent turn rate and mor eCM while having the same number of missiles but i can have 4 r60m and 2 R13M1. The xs just doesnt compare in an uptier.

True enough, but like I said earlier this is situational. Air RB is very crowded, and being slow in a furball puts your life on a timer

Seriously, ive tanked so much damage in the draken so why can the draken tank occasionally but the viggen disintegrates from seeing bullets.

I dunno. I don’t remember ever losing a fight against a Phantom in SB in any plane. Maybe I got smoked when I zombed in Ardvark, but that’s about it.

I also am not a full elevator deflection jockey, like most people coming from RB. I ratefight with the Viggen in SAS damping. I never use full controls if I have the option to use damping mode. My first game (stock) yesterday 3:1 KD (18kills and 6 deaths). Made the entire lobby mad so much yesterday, that one guy even forced me to a 1v1 in a custom battle (RB rules sadly because his words: “you would win in SB”) after the match ended. xD

I play FOX3 carriers likes this: Go 10km alt, mach 1.5+ and launch within 20km distance in high repetition TWS. If I get too close, I simply turn around then recommit. Never allow enemy get too close. When all FOX3 have been spent, I RTB and rearm. Why should I give the enemy chance and let him come close just for him to smoke me with thrust vectoring FOX2 or invisible 9M? Makes no sense.

I have no doubt you are better than me in SB, I only started seriously playing this spring, but that does not make the Phantom a better frame than Viggen.

Get slow and get cooked by a missile flying at you lol

Or swiss-cheese’d by gun

TBF Tornado has much better radar and RWR (now) (at least for ASB)

Air and RB and SB are different beasts, i find Sim gives more more chances to dogfight and in sim im better than most phantom pilots. The same cant be said in air RB if im close to a F4S. I have to theough my full controls on to get a more even advantage since he outurns me at most speeds. If i get slow enough to outurn him im a sitting duck for the rest of the team.

and a worse flight model then the other 13.0s not to mention I dont think the Shar FA2 should be the same BR as the Viggen and F4F ICE when they both have more weapons, guns and are a lot faster

We would need another decompression for that (I’m on board but IDK if Gaijin wants to just yet)

This exact F-20 Germany tested was worse than what we currently have as US premium iirc. In game sense it would be nothing more than single engined F-5E.

Agreed but i think the problem is compression, if the BRs were a bit higher id say it should go down

You are right. That’s because 90 % of RB players shit all energy out in 1st turn by holding S and then they just start levitating at 300kmh. :D

In SB the Phantom has no chance against a competent Viggen pilot. I can’t wait to finally try the ICE out in SB though. The updated cockpit looks so nice, compared to the old Phantoms.

I avoid most turn fights in ARB since its not worth it to try and get one kill when i can just fly through the side and get a few kills on the enemy. Helps that the viggen is pretty fast on the deck too.

The F-20 debate has been held time and time again. I personally believe the aircraft should be armed with such a weapon given it was intended to be, and also given standards applied to other aircraft and planned armaments and features such as the Yak-141. In regards to the Aim-120A’s integration into the F-20A, it’s not different than adding the R-27ER to the MiG.29 9.12A, as although they wouldn’t be compatible without a software update gaijin went ahead and did so anyway. The multiple images out there of planned armaments which include mentions of BVRAAMs alongside mentions of the sparrow are what sold me, and the infamous mockup photos are icing on the cake. Ofc I fully understand the argument against giving the aircraft such a weapon, as I wouldn’t be surprised in the slightest if it isn’t given the weapon sometime in the future.
