Major Update "Firebirds" - Rumor Round-Up & Discussion (Part 2)

Yep, not far off :D

I wonder if Gaijin has already thought about working on only one or 2 map but really big ones, like DCS.

This would be best than multiple 20km² maps, for air top tier.

They don’t even need to have structure or cool things, full forest, some moutains and here we go.

lob jassm-er from takeoff, destroy enemy airfield, resupply, repeat

Rafale takeoff,
Rafale launch one missile
Game end

(Nuclear cruise missile with a 300kt warhead)

The future is bright :D

looking at loadouts, it appears the F-15E typically carries 2 AGM-158, and the gr4 can carry 2 storm shadows

looking quite promising

of course, if they added the max tested loadout of 5 agm 158 for the f15e that be nice

GR4 can carry 4x Storm Shadow, though typically fuel tanks were the default which would replace 2x Storm Shadow

Spoiler

Only one for Mirage 2000D saddly (but yeah, it’s a light and small plane vs the others xD)

Have to wait Rafale for 3 of them i think.

For me, gaijin might ready 5th gen IR Air-to-Air missile for attack aircraft before fighter aircraft

Mirage 2000D RMV would be BR 13.0 or 13.3 (Air AB, RB & SB). maybe

This infrared Air-to-Air Missile coming to 8 or 10 years. my guess

I don’t know TALIOS (Targeting Long-range Identification Optronic System) might 3rd gen or 4th gen targeting pod

Well that’s a pod made for the Rafale but than the Mirage 2000D RMV can use

Résumé

But even if Gaijin add it i doubt it give it all the things it can do IRL ^^
Would just be a gen 4 pod (i’m not a pro about gen of pods)) i think ingame.

I’ve always been curious but does anyone know exactly why countermeasures weren’t built into the Tornado?

Flares in particular ofc

They where designed from the get go to have an ECM pod on one of the outboard pylons, that created a need for something to balance the weight out so it made sense to use an “external” dispenser which also brings the bonus of significantly larger capacity for chaff than an “internal” dispenser.

Tornado ASSTA 3 with IRIS-T

the plan was Modularity and greater effectiveness of ECM as a pod

even tho they don’t look like it the tornados were build with (at the time) since fiction super tech like MAWS and advanced ECM in mind, thus it was chosen to have CM and ECM in pods on CM specific pylons

the advantages are that you’re not limited some build in dispenser like on the phantoms and that it can be upgraded or switched out for a diffrent pod later on which is exactly what happened

there are a couple of diffrent CM and ECM pods the tornados have carried in their long career

Yeah the aircraft mentioned strongly suggest a testing bed session for more advanced IR missiles.

same as american f-5e i think its 10.7 or 11

depends on what armarment they choose

because those F5Es have been in active air patrol service until 2018 so it can be assumed that they may just have been used with 9L/M or even 9X
