Major Update "Firebirds" - Rumor Round-Up & Discussion (Part 2)

I mean that they will just fill the spot and it make no incentive for gaijin to actually see for them and fix the numerous issues with the french tt.

Germany literally only has problems NOW not when Gen 4s were being introduced you cannot compare these situations I never said Germany shouldnt get something for filler just stated Japan wouldve fallen behind significantly, Germany at LEAST has the weapons to keep up we didnt even have that

In this case its the armour, its a very thinly armoured ship reliant on angling, however I am worried some shells may just ignore the angling to some degree. Still I think against other ships, she will be better than Renown due to better shell dispersion, equivalent RoF, armour and speed.

VS smaller 11"shells from scharnhorst it might be effective, i doubt anything more than that though.

I think both sisters will be put at 7.0 or 6.7 as both have weak armour unangled, Stras just is slightly less weak. The issue we have is there is nothing to bridge the gap between the relatively ‘okay’ Dunkerques and the relatively good Richelieu’s.

Reload is anywhere between 45 seconds and 30 seconds, it was very very iffy and flawed irl. Penetration should be good though, better than Scharnhorst and the shell had so much HE filler for its calibre it was arguably a SAP round, so it won’t suffer with low HE filler like other small calibre guns.

You will have to be careful to not show too much of the bulkhead or the belt, too much of either and shells will easily go right through.

Just the Deutschland class, originally it was just supposed to counter heavy cruisers, then those popped up so it was made bigger to counter Deutschland’s, that’s why its protected against low weight 11" shells, then Scharnhorst, Bismarck and the Littorio’s popped up, which prompted the Richelieu’s.

Dunkerque is better. The design of the Dunkerque and Richelieu classes is copied and then modified from the British Nelson classes, this can be seen not only in the placement of the guns which you could argue is not copying but also the shape of the citadel is also inspired by the Nelson class, this isn’t a bad thing, but just some historical context. However a carryover from this is the better ammunition placement.

Yeah i forgot to put that in my comment, mirage should be able to both have a really good fox 3 at short and medium range for sure not as fast as aim 120 but it would make it possible to launch them from far away.

It is the same problem. Both nations needed/need fillers. Im not against Japan F16Aj. I just dont like the hate towards the idea of Germany getting something they dont use.(AKA Swiss F-18 or F16 from somewhere).

So if people says Germany need to wait but F16Aj was needed, this is double standards.

Theres literally no hate about Germany getting Swiss filler lmao but all the hate about the AJ

The only thing that was said is that France should get the joint Swiss project vehicles

Because gaijin not ready 4.5 gen fighter aircraft with modern AESA radar 3 years

Maybe 2030

PESA and early AESA radars are coming sooner than later whether the community wants it or not. Gaijin has a plan to push

Funnily enough Barhams SAP is SAPCBC however her AP shell is literally just APHE with no ballistic cap, not sure why iirc she can also get an APCBC shell in that years configuration.

But this is a lot of filler per volume for an APC shell, it has nowhere near equivalent filler for a SAP shell. But it has ~20kg of filler which is about average for an APC shell around the same as Hood’s 15" shell. Though i’m not sure what the equivalent is in TNT as it uses some weird post-war French compound i’ve never seen before and noone else used so it’s not in-game yet.

Well, she’s gonna meet class of ships that are way modern against what she was build for so… xD
A little tast of DoA as usual, we know that taste very well.

Perhaps this would help for fire in ammo storage too, a little like for modern tank armor between crew and ammo (forgot the word). Sure it’s not an invicible wall but i hope this could still bring something.

In BBs perhaps, but in cruiser, we have cold war one that could go perfectly in between as help, like the Dakka colbert.

And good news if Gaijin give her really good shells to balance the light armor (and potential slow reload, i’m scared about that), more pen and more spicy than scharnorst shells is cool.

Well that is what she was designed to protect against :p

Japan got the AJ because they’d have had NOTHING until the F-15 got added, and they were already lagging behind other nations (USSR and Germany had MiG-23s, American tomcat, Sweden Vigen, China J7E) while Germany was always going to get their MiG-29s

What you are saying is the same as saying USA should’ve gotten the F-16 while the MiG-21bis was being added.
We’ve had the AJ discussion so many times now, how are people this ignorant?

Nothing we aren’t familiar with yeah. Still I have high hopes for her, Dunkerque class is literally the Tiger 1 of capital ships, but this time hopefully with smart players who know how to use her.

I think you mean like a blowout panel. And yeah in theory it should do, big shells and possibly the overperforming Russian 12" may not care about the bulkhead. But on smaller shells it should leave half the turret as funcitonal. And stop fire damage from going between the two.

One thing I don’t believe is currently modelled in-game is flash-tightness which on many ships stops the case of fires burning down the barbette causing damage.

I agree, I look forward to seeing more french ships in general to be honest, I find the unorthadox designs interesting. And also Italian ships which are heavily underrated.

They only ever used 2 different shells, a HE shell and an APC shell. The APC is very good for its size so in this case you get what you’re given which is very good.

We will have to wait and see what they do with the reload. But you know what, if Scharn, Kron, Amagi, Mutsu and Bayerns can have their peak reloads (in Kron’s case completely untested) then Dunkerque should get her optimal reload also.

And saddly gaijin confirmed than a subTT vehicles can’t go elsewhere than the country linked with.
It’s probably the worst choice from them about subTT idea, and the reason i just hope thoses Swiss-French project never come in the game now, even if it’s sad to say something like that.
