Major Update “Firebirds” — DEV Server Changelog (25.10.2024) - Dev Server is closed

This persistent focus on CAS aircraft to chase the instant gratification crowd’s $$$ has been detrimental to the game. I don’t find point and clicking something from 20km away to be challenging or interesting, but YMMV I guess.

Whats with the changes to RWRs?? This is absolutely Awful?

Forgetting “Realism” (Which I know isn’t even being properly followed in these nerfs here)
Why are we Removing information available to the player, this is not only a terrible implement for most players, but is going to be a NIGHTMARE for those who play sim.

we still have 5 days till dev server gets closed

Seems like the dev server crashes when the J-11As MAWS gets triggered in the test drive by the SAM

I still mean issue. Out of a game design perspective, we are revoking meaningful information from a player which can determine his decision on how to approach a risky situation.

If this is done for historical reasons, that’s in line with game design. If it is done to “simplyfy” for some other reason, it is removing a level of mastery from the game, just like the first order ammo rack mechanic did with reload times and working with the information advantage.

And I wish to add something really important here: The argument you made, albeit a reasonable one for a general strategy is a very two edged sword in this context. Because depending on the subject matter, a lot of people may join you in this case and accuse me of “doing something wrong”. Meanwhile my critique is based on a nerf that I have not heard any reason for and that removes a great layer of depth from the gameplay right now.

By your statement alone, you can strawman the argument into something it never was which legitimizes the decision of Gaijin to remove this layer and call it a day when they really should not have simply gotten away with a nerf like that without any clear reasoning.

Considering there is a VERY strong chance the Premium WTD tornado, is actually the ASSTA2 upgrade variant, it still would lack guided armament which came on the ASSTA3 upgrade.
Now implementing the ASSTA3 as a TT would’ve been a PERFECT addition this update, but instead…

Has there been any official statement on why there’s a big nerf coming to Western/NATO RWRs? I know they just posted the change but any official “Here’s why we are doing it”?

General Lee did a fairly good job explaining why this is a terrible decision, but don’t know if Gaijin has said anything.

I have updated the comment to be more specific in both of our favor.
Thank you for bringing those issues to my attention.

Yes

And the reports for many RWR are up or will be up soon.

Viggen shows up as F-16 on RWRs, you will know it’s a Viggen/F-16-like vehicle coming at you.
All PD radars are still identified on at least AN/ALR-56 onward.
I have not checked AN/ALR-46 however, though it appears ALR-46 only got missile warning changes [not removed].

Oh Jesus I’m gonna have a stroke. I have no way to help with Gripen’s RWR but I can already tell the players are getting shafted with this “Make a report”.

So any chance at a dev response on this? Judging by the response of likes (14 and counting) it seems to be a major issue to us naval players. At what point, in any of these dev servers, will the concerns of naval players be addressed? It’s not even asking for something NEW, just to NOT implement something we were never asked about or asked FOR.

Looks like a good update so far.

What I like:

  • Graphical improvements. Love to see those. Hope a rework of trees and bushes are next as they are starting to look rather ancient.
  • Solid and varied selection of new vehicles and weapons. For me the highlights are: T77E1, F-15E/I, Object 140 (beautiful tank, preorderd for nostalgia’s sake), Su-34, Scimitar, PLZ05, Sabra, Dunkerque
  • Filling SPAA gaps
  • Continue adding new top rank battleships. Really hoped for Warspite instead of Repulse though.
  • More vehicles with detailed interiors, keep it coming
  • Freccia buff
  • New camouflages, always welcome
  • As always a great many changes improving realism

What I don’t like:

  • Leopards in French tree. Apart from being a detriment to the overall tree, this is the second update with only non-French vehicles added to the ground tree. It makes me feel it hinders addition of the much cooler domestic vehicles. Feels like a waste to me.
  • Same with Italy really, not many good domestic additions last updates apart from ships.
  • There could be more WWII content… also would love to see more 50’s and 60’s aircraft. Those periods feel neglected.

In general I don’t like how subtrees are evolving. I like a subtree like South Africa and to a lesser extent Finland as they have unique vehicles or don’t detract much from the character of a tree. But I don’t like Benelux at all so far. Yes, it’s good for line-ups but C&P Leopards and F-16’s in every tree with almost no unique vehicles is not the way to go imo. It only seems to get in the way of more interesting additions (of which the French have plenty) so far. Maybe it’s time to revise how subtrees work, there is a nice proposal on this forum that would improve things.
