Go preview the BVM, do protection analysis, and run the DM-53, it pens in that exact spot, and at least kills the driver in most shots, I’ve even had it go all the way through and hit a round at the back of the carousel.
Suprise mate. “Tandem ATGMs” is another algorithmic calculation, it just gets and advantageous multiplier against ERA. There are zero modelled physics on the penetration/protection side in this game. Period.
So why cant that be applied for rounds with a Anti-ERA tip?

I never said it can’t, as in not possible. It just won’t happen because the sheer amount of complex polygons that have to be modeled and rendered for EVERY projectile to try to penetrate ANYTHING in game. No one’s computer could do that.
If you look at XYZ or some of the other youtubers who like to model penetrations with the most fidelity short of actually shooting the damn armor with the cannon in real life, you’ll see what I mean. It’s common to hear stuff like, sorry guys, the formula wasn’t working and crashed after the second day of computing the penetration. Some calculations take DAYS.
I’m not a compsci guy, I don’t know if there’s a way to fix this, or a happy medium. For now, you get algo pen, not real physics.

No it fails at the first hurdle, where it is missing the 2nd EFP charge entirely(due to game engine limitations), The -2B’s ERA bypass, not Defeat mechanism, bypass. Works due to the spatial separation of the line of action of the Twined charge mechanism providing a time delay between impacts for the ERA to action on the impact of the forward charge and then after some time the second is triggered at the appropriate point in time to subsequently penetrate the now unprotected roof / armor array, since most service ERA is not multi-hit capable.
And magically, unlike all other Tandem Warheads it doesn’t get bonus penetration due to the precursor charge.
Also now that it’s been mentioned why isn’t ERA’s protection also reduced from real protection figures to account for the fact that shell’s depend on the Penetration Formula, not known penetration, in order to make things fair anyway.
The only problem with that Ukrainian propaganda photograph is that we never saw if the hole extends into the crew compartment. And all we have to go on is an advertisement line? I don’t mind if this is good enough to add it to the game, but remember everything gets balanced, and this isn’t a full-fidelity sim game. Also be cautious of double standards. I just saw in the reddit someone complain because a UVZ advertisement for the T-90MS mentioned that it had a spall-liner, and the dude complaining literally said: “wow, a promo advertisement is taken as a primary source, and it’s from Russia, so it’s guaranteed to be propaganda… something something gaijin something something Russian Bias”.

No, you’re not understanding what I’m saying. There are no physics calculations like mass and velocity that go into determining penetration. They take penetration values, and then do a pass/fail based on if there’s an armor modifier.
It reads something like APFSDS Pen: 356mm ----> Armor 250mm (Against CE: 120%, against KE: 100%). The ERA adds to it, they approximate the percentage protection. They don’t model a plate of metal with explosive underneath it and then see if when the round goes off, if it’s deformed by the armor, or if changes course and doesn’t penetrate as well etc etc.

I don’t doubt the propaganda, there is it on both sides. The point is that the T-90M that they are “selling” us at WT is ridiculously overprotected. At least for current penetration values.
