Going to be honest here, this is another sub-par update. It is the arrival of an entirely new rank for ground vehicles and the main theme of the update is “air superiority”. And the overall implementation of everything is just…awful.
First and foremost; US and Sweden are getting the worst version of aircraft they built, while lesser-nations are getting a significantly better variant. And the response to what has clearly been a point of contention for enough players to get a response; said response is a traditional “We have heard your feedback and will do nothing”. The US should see the F-15C variant alongside Japan just like the JAS39C should go to both the UK and Sweden. If the response from Smin is that “Hey, these really are identical in feature and functionality” then it should be very easy to implement both for both nations. Like many other players, bit tired of seeing Gaijin do this and getting essentially an F U when called out on it. I genuinely hope there is a course correction on this in the next couple of days or before this drops.
Realistically, the Su-27 should not be coming in this update. To give an already stacked nation something that came 20 years after the F-15A, is a pretty clear example of (an apparently non-existent) Soviet/Russian favoritism. Ideally, the Soviet counterpart would be the Mig-25 as the F-15 was a direct response to it. The Su-27 should arrive in the same update as the Swedish JAS39C the dev team seem insistent on making Sweden wait for.
The newest MBT for Russia, the T-90M, is arriving as the only tank to get spall liners. Something they realistically don’t need since Soviet tanks have benefited from a special blackhole void bug that prevents the ammo carousel from detonating when hit since their implementation. While also denying every NATO tank since the 1980s that also had them. The newest Abrams has the exact same armor specs as the one it was meant to improve on, effectively making it pointless to research. This is to supplement the fact that we still have the wrong model for the KVT.
A lot of core issues remain. Like overall RP progression for ground vehicles is still awful. Rank 7 (and now Rank 8) is still categorically more tedious to progress through than its air counterpart. These ranks alone really need a minimum of 20%, ideally 30%, reduction in regards to RP requirements for unlocking. Not to mention spawn-rushing really has not been addressed either.
What is genuinely disappointing about this community is how easily the jingling keys technique seems to work on it. We have yet to actually finish the roadmap and have been given zero indication what will happen after it as we head into an entirely new year but…wooo…F-15…wooo Su-27.
But abt her new leaklist:
-IJN Mutsu is very interesting, likely to be one of if not the first 16in -armed battleship ingame on account of being one of the first 16in -armed battleships.
-She 's leaked USS Mississippi before, it appearing again might indicate an ingame appearance sooner rather than later ?
-Vilkas being on her leaklist proves the chinese one legit, if recent devblogs hadn’t already.
-J 9 might be the P-35A we saw in 2.7.0.55, Oliviia 's original big leaklist included her speculation that it would be implemented as Swedish instead:
Wouldn’t be the first time an aircraft was added to a nation other than the one that manufactured it, while having a camo variant to represent it 's creator-nation service form.
-All of these modern Air mode ground targets are very exciting ! They also make sense speculating off some things we’ve seen recently
the surface-to-air missiles fit w/ the revised RWR having notifications for specific ground radar emission threat types which would likely never come from a playable vehicle ( S-75, MIM-23 etc.)
A recent Q&A mentioned plans for airfield dioramas w/ more ways to interact w/ the match, destructible radars, SAM 's, and ballistic missiles were all mentioned - and all have now been leaked here:
( [QA] Answers from the developers - News - War Thunder )
iirc Smin said earlier that there was going to be something this update not previously possible due to the mechanics involved, which relates to the answer given on a Q&A coincidentally the same as above:
S-75, S-300, Hawk, and Patriot are all here in Oliviia 's leak - this might be that new mechanic, anti-radiation missiles !
They’ve even tried to implement them before, this was the visual model used by the " RIM-66 " that USS Douglas originally had on devserver before being given ahistorical RIM-24:
Speaking of naval missiles, here 's something @gszabi99_HUN pointed out to me going on in WT Mobile:
I was thinking more along the lines of how there are 23 (24?) vehicles on the dev server but it feels more like there’s only 5 or 6. I feel like I’ve only been given the dessert and the main course has been skipped.
But yeah, this stuff thats wrong with the game and Gaijins business practices that will never change is also a problem; its just too tiring to complain about it after all these years.
Looking forward to seeing the VT-4 when it’s a bit more finalized. Should be a very nice addition to Chinese top tier, and with a good APS none the less
Classic response to someone who is simply points how a genuinely poor implementation of an upcoming vehicle or mechanic is exhausting. God forbid the US doesn’t get gimped on arrival every implementation and have to wait a patch or three to be at its actual level of performance or capability.
And please, Gaijin has used that description themselves. But since your argument is assumptions only, I’ll expand.
Lesser-developed tech trees. Lesser-flushed out line-ups. Lesser-played. Yeah, those that aren’t in the big three.
So… You are annoyed with the fact that RU received an aircraft that came 20 years after the F-15A, but completely fine with RU getting an aircraft that came 10 years before the F-15? Seems contradictory and funny when considered the limitations of the MiG-25 in the air superiority role.
The only difference between the F-15A and the F-15J would be the AAM-3
So you want Japan to not get it’s domestic missile so that the US one is better. The have the same airframe.
You’re arguing that US should always be the best. Its a stupid arguement
It isn’t being held back by anything. Its a F-15A. Once the FM and radar are adjusted off of dev stats it will be what its supposed to be.
Just reword your crying to:
“Im upset the US isn’t get the best version of everything in the game everypatch. No other nation should ever pull ahead in any aspect of the game”
So that then justifies giving it something that outperforms the F-15A? Something that carries more and better AAM missiles? Is far more maneuverable? That isn’t missing it’s HMD? That gets better stock capability? Personally, the US should at least get the F-15C alongside Japan.
No one, literally no one, is arguing Japan shouldn’t get its variant. Just that the country who made the plane not get the worse variant. Same for Sweden.
The only thing making it better is the missle. So do you want Japan to not get the AAM-3, their domestic missile? or do you want the F-15 to get a 9X or what.
Could see it getting Aim-7Ps, Block I or IIs. Or Aim-9M-8/9s. The F-16C was the main platform for the block I 9Xs.
But it is frustrating to see the Su-27 getting R-73s stock compared to the thrice nerfed stock 9Ls. At that point, stock R-60MKs is a more proper balancing move.
Nah. Anyway they are basically the same and US will see several others F-15, while Japan will be sitting with this vehicle for another year. Let bullied nation to have some fun and be a top dog a little.
No. MiG isnt even viable in the game (cause its fast high altitude bomber interceptor)
Carried Block I 9Xs for one. Why not. Surely the game can handle another 30G+ missile after the Python 3, AAM-3, and R-73. Didn’t a Gaijin dev come out and say the R-73 was better than the 9X anyways? What’s the deal with not adding it then?
