M8A1 GMC Moving up in BR (2.7-3.0)

Recently I purchased the M8A1 GMC as a way to grind ground vehicle event. I’m not as good in GRB as I do in ARB and I do apologize for seal clubbing.

Apart from that issue, the proposed BR increase will result in this vehicle constantly fighting better opponents due to the abundance of 3.7 BR vehicles. Other things to consider is the lack of protection with it being an open top vehicle with 1.3 hull (or chassis, I’m not sure) of the HMC variants. The opposite could be said when talking about armament and mobility since it feature a 75mm M3 cannon (AFAIK) along with a handy 50 cal on top and an incredible mobility that could potentially offset the slow turret rotation speed.

But the deal breaker for me is that this vehicle doesn’t have a stabilizer and notably is very unstable indeed, requiring more than half a second to try to even get a proper firing solution. The only reason I could see it moving up in BR is because it is an event vehicle, therefore leading to a better statistics. It’s not about my money not being worth and more about the vehicle itself not being that good, at least when played incorrectly (which kinda apply to all vehicles).

While I do love glass cannon, I’m still uneasy about gaijin’s decision.

The gun has the same properties of the 75mm M3 M4 Sherman and it has a 6.7 sec Aced reload and 7.1 expert.

yes it applies to all vehicles so is equally unimportant to all vehicles, what is important is the average statistics of all the people who play a vehicle

okay? its a td at 2.7 (soon to be 3.0) that isnt exactly abnormal for that big a gun at those BRs

The things that I wanted to highlight is the incredibly long time to aim compared to other vehicles with 75mm that has a stab. If we’re talking about TD, they are much more stable on the move, regardless of speed. Moving even an inch on the M8A1 could mess your aim, in addition of having a very long recovery time, making it extremely difficult to peek corners.

For comparison, Pz.Sp.Wg.P204(f) PaK could sustain a somewhat stable gun at max speed. The only way I could get a good K/D is by being a rat, which always works because people at lower BR doesn’t yet research the EyeBall Mk.2 yet.

I wonder how could the reload be longer compared to Sherman’s. Isn’t being an open top brings more ergonomics for the crews?

yeah but other vehicles with that 75mm are slower or higher in BR, so they arent really directly comparable

so dont do that

okay? its also a gun that generally does much less damage by nature of being a different gun

also going into test drive the m8a1 gmc isnt even that bad man. perhaps you should consider (if you havent already)

  1. enabling this
    image
which means that when you hold the C button (or whatever you have free look bound to) your gun will lock in position relative to the hull allowing you to move slightly without having your gun try to move up and down

and 2. enabling this

which means when coming to a stop your gun will not move up or down, which means you dont have to worry about the slow vertical traverse of the gun affecting you as much when coming to a stop as it will be locked at a relatively flat position that it was in while you were moving

Never knew this thing existed. Do I have to press D in the process or just gliding through would trigger the mechanic as well?

By no means am I saying that it’s bad, in fact I do love it. I sold the Arena-M T-72 thingy to purchase this thing. I just don’t think it deserves the BR increase, same thing as the zeros.

Well does it come down to the devs more anything else when it’s about reload rates, I mean look at what they’re doing to the long barreled Pz IVs, Stugs and M36!

I dreamed of getting the 1.2 second emergency reload override for the Type 10. Definitely will stay a dream!

not sure, youll have to test that yourself ive had it on basically since i started playing the game so i dunno what specifically it changes over the normal game tbh

no i was referring specifically to the wobble when coming to a stop there are some vehicles that are much worse, but generally it just scales with acceleration, speed, and vertical traverse
