i bought the M48A2 C (german one) yesterday and the stock grind is just horrible, gaijin really needs to change it.
APCR stock grind at 7.7 is just impossible! u can’t oneshot almost nothing (with a few exceptions for other american tanks with ammo racks in right-side of the turret), ur armor is made of paper for everything (even lowtier WW2 shells) and it isn’t as good as other 7.7 tanks.
everybody says i complain about everything (especially when playing Germany) but everybody is and needs to admit that playing with that thing is almost impossible when stock grinding.
yeah, the tank is awesome, good optic, reload and can outstand 30mm auto-cannons, but the stock grind is the thing that in my opinion makes it not worth it.
It does not need changed.
Now, as for the APCR round. It’s the best overall APCR performance in the game with strong angled capability for the type of round it is.
Your job when using it is to aim for the flattest parts of vehicles, and usually you’ll go through… unless it’s an IS-4, then you have to get creative.
I will never think you complaining is a negative thing. Complaining is a method to show discontent with something.
Your perspective is valuable whether I agree or not.
Push forward slowly and cautiously [not too slow] aiming for tank weakspots, aiming for where ammo’s placed, gunners, cannon breeches. You’ll get to that HEATFS round in no time.
IS-4M is ez, the driver’s port is the biggest weakspot and i played with it cuz i unlocked it with USSR.
its hard to kill it if u don’t know, but knowing that i played with it, it’s not a problem.
Im not sure anyone would do that in this case, theres a couple tanks with only apcr stock and none of them can be defined as a fun experience to stock grind
Good thing there’s not an entire tree with most of their shells being solid shot cough cough britain I wonder what would happen if there was such a tree, oh the stock to spade grind must be horrible.
This vehicle is horrible lol even after you obtain the HEATFS it will still be mediocre. Them setting the APCR as stock ammunition is just a way to make players spend GE to unlock the “usable” parts.
APCR is a difficult round to use as it not only hates angled armour as @AlvisWisla mentioned, it also hates spaced armour as the outer shell peels of on impact shedding a lot of the projectiles mass and making the 2nd layer of armour far more effective against the lighter penetrator. The penetrator IRL is also fairly brittle so the outer shell is also a shock absorber to prevent it shattering on impact, I don’t know if that is modeled in game though.
Top it all of with the fact that the penetrator doesn’t ricochet around inside the tank the way they do IRL resulting in low damage and the rapid drop in pen over range and you have a very situational round.
Having it as the only available round on a tank is very frustrating as in most situations it leaves you trying to disable enemies and relying on team mates to finish them off.
Hello. I have been playing the Magach 2 recently, which is the exact same tank as the A2 C (Since it is the A2 C).
I have been one shooting Russian tanks through the mantlet lol. Should have seen one game where I one shot an is-6, is-4, obj. 268 and then an is-3, which wasn’t a one shot but still an apcr kill. Any flat surface your apcr will pen it since it has >300 mm pen. They buffed APCR not too long ago its way better now. You just have to make sure you actually hit weak spots.
Idk where you pulled this from. It has ~130 mm on the turret and at its peak 110 mm on the hull + sharp angling. The only thing that has been able to pen me at 7.7 was HEAT-FS shells which can go through anything.
yeap.
No. Well I have premium acc so maybe that makes a difference. But I haven’t been having issues with the thing besides trying to kill the somua sm with HEAT-FS and its oscilating turret eating it. I think this is a case of skill issue m8.
Yeah, the stock grind for the M48 is very hard,BUT it gets super easy once you unlock the M82,you know why? Everybody thinks that a 90mm APHE (APCBC to be more precise) is useless between 7.7 and 8.7,but they are wrong. Sure, the things you can pen on the front with that round are few, but if you manage to get a flank (and you will get a flank),the M82 is the perfect round since it oneshots anything it pens. the HESH shell can be used to oneshot light vehicles or SPAA with overpressure (2kgs of TNTe) and the HEAT-FS is used to deal with everything you’ll face from the front if you can’t manage to shoot the enemy on the side with the M82.
Just like Alvis said, hit the flattest part and be creative. If you do this, grinding towards the M82 will be a breeze
I spaded all M48s, and i think gaijin buffed the the stock apcr in 2024. The M332 was playable until the HEAT-FS
For me the M82 sucks at 7.7, but now, no more T-55AMs, maybe a good choice
Of course not, Solid Shot actually starts to get pretty tolerable once you get ACBC. But when you have a stock brit vehicle with only AP shells (Not as bad as the notoriously horrible APCR) it’s a pretty painful experience lol
