History:
The M2A2 ODS-SA Bradley is an upgrade to the the M2A2 ODS which in itself is a upgrade to the M2A2 Bradley.

The M2A2 ODS was an upgrade to the M2A2 Bradley after operation desert storm giving it many features from the M2A3. This gave the new Cummins VTA-903T 8-cyl diesel engine, HMPT-500-3 hydromechanical transmission, spaced laminate armor plating, kevlar spall liner (that protects vital areas), tactical navigation (TACNAV), precision lightweight GPS receiver (PLGR), digital compass systems (DCS), force XXI battle command brigade and below (FBCB2) battlefield command information system, laser rangefinder and Bradley Reactive Armor. Some M2A2 Bradley’s were equipped with AN/VLQ-6 soft-kill APS.

The ODS saw deployment alongside other Bradley variants in Iraq and Kosovo, both during the fighting and for peace keeping missions.

Then in November 2010, the US Army placed a $250m contract in to procure the needed items for 247 Bradley Operation Desert Storm Situational Awareness (ODS-SA) vehicle conversion kits. A further $270m contract was awarded for the conversion of 245 ODS-SA vehicles in October 2011. This upgrade would essentially make it a M2A3 without the commander’s independent viewer.

In January 2023, the USA announced it would send Ukraine M2A ODS-SA to Ukraine. As of today, around 300 of the type were sent and operated by Ukraine. However it seems that the Bradley’s sent would lack the APS.
