M26E1 11 second reload

I want to know why is the M26E1 reload 11 seconds? It has the same shells length wise as a short 90mm cannon?? It gets out reloaded by a basic crew Tiger 2, doesnt seem balanced to me.

i thinks becouse it need to load 2 shells, the ,charger-> the ammo with the gunpowder" and the bullet, so the warhead. Warhead need to be loeded and the charger. both are located in the hull or in the turret.

The charger is in the shell cartridge, with the shell itself, only the T32 series tanks have that
The m26e1 had a new cannon made for it that specifically decreased the shell length for easier loading, and the difference in reload times is barely 1-2 seconds compared to the other T26E1-1 or T32E1

Firing trials with the T15E1 revealed that the length and weight of the single-piece ammunition made it difficult to stow inside the tank and load into the gun breech.

The M26E1 uses the T54, not the T15E1, which increased its ability to reload the cannon

It uses shortened shells and one piece ammunition, unlike the T15E1/E2

These are the shells that the T15E1 fires, which are way longer than the ones the T54 uses

OK, no wonder I can’t find anything about it – it’s a premium vehicle for Golden Eagles that hasn’t been available from the USDA, Italy or France for quite some time now. Here’s what the old War Thunder Wiki says:

Full reload speed will be achieved as long as shells are available in ready rack 9. If the ready rack is empty, a penalty to reload speed will apply.

Simply not firing when the gun is loaded will move ammunition from racks 1–8 into rack 9. Firing will interrupt the restocking of the ready rack.

Meanwhile, the Tiger 2 and Panther II‘s reload time is 7.5s

Chieftain with a 7.5s reload aced.

G6 with a slower reload than the notoriously cramped 2s1.

Stryker which uses the engagement time for the autoloader reload.

And it only gets worse

Sadly it doesnt matter, T29 has a 10 second reload time irl according to documents and 14.9 in game, even if i found the documents for the reload time of the M26E1 it wont matter

I am absolutely flabbergasted

Balanced XD

Hunnicutt says 10 seconds. That should be a fair reload imo.

Again, i watched a documentrary of the Super Pershing, and origanally, some engenirs strapped a T54/ t15E1 gun on a m26 tank, and the shells are huge, and it was difficult to manuver the round in a cramped tank

The ammunition of the M26E1 is similar in length to regular 90 mm ammunition, just fatter.

This was done after they found the longer ammunition of the T26E4’s gun to be too cumbersome.

Reload speed is a balance parameter. Gaijin can tweak it as it sees fit.
You can use documents about reload speed during tests/combat only if the tank uses automatic reload.
