M1a2s at top tier

That’s the point. The video can be very easily sped up, I’ve done two measurements of this video before in fact. For the majority of the video it had been traveling at about ~11kph:

32 (frames) / 25 (fps) ≈ 1.28 seconds
0.003931 km (length between the centre of the first and last roadwheels & distance traveled) / 1.28 seconds (time spent traveling) = 0.0041375 km/s ≈ 11.05 km/h

Then for a teeny tiny bit, it “sped” up to about ~25kph

A bit strange that it spends over 90% of its screentime moving at the typical T-80 reverse speed, but then speeds up for half a second, no? Funniest thing about it is that the turret itself also rotated faster during that bit… huh.

Its not sped up the dust kicked up travels as fast as you’d expect and the turret traverse helps prove its not sped up

Screenshots of Video

11.88 seconds on the first screenshot, and 14.19 seconds on the second screenshot, where it moved approximately one tank hull length in 2.31 seconds.

Assuming the T-80BVM uses a T-80B hull, that means it moved 7.4 meters in 2.31 seconds.

7.4/2.31 m/s = 3.203 m/s = 11.53 kph.

That new gearbox got it 0.53 kph faster!

But you see, this is not an official written primary source by the manufacturer with a specific figure statement.

Therefore, applying the same logic as the Abrams, the improved reverse should not be implemneted and should stay at 11 km/h.

EVEN if every other source and piece of evidence points towards an improvement: guesswork and estimations are “unacceptable”, are they not, when it comes to the armor of the Abrams? Then why should this be any different?

It moved more than 7.4m in the screenshots you used even eyeballing it its closer to 9-10m

Well in fairness they say that at the beginning it goes 10km/h and only then towards the end it starts to accelerate (37s = start of acceleration). There’s literally about 4-5 seconds of footage where it’s theoretically going fast reverse. It wouldn’t even be good for a secondary source anyway so I don’t see any reason to seriously discuss this video.

Maybe yes, maybe no. So far no one has been able to provide any evidence of the improved reverse on the t80/90, except for this video, the validity of which can’t be verified. And many on the ru-forum persistently tried to find anything.

The video can be disregarded anyways. It’s from a Russian propaganda channel, the commentary that we hear in the background when the tank speeds up was added in an edit after the video has been shot as well (so the speed of the commentator’s voice can’t be used as a metric to judge if its sped up or not either, and the “dust kick up” isn’t linear nor do I think Nano has any evidence of how “quickly” dust kicks up from under a moving tracked vehicle so that can be discarded as well).

If we’re going to straight up take propaganda videos at face values, we might as well just give M829A4 to all M1s and make it perform based on blank US statements of “yea this thing kills everything”.

No lol

If I were on anything else I wouldn’t have been able to kill the second guy, T-72? 7.1 seconds I hadn’t done reloading so by the time I was ready the second guy already left the scene, that’s a missed opportunity, T-80 6.5 seconds also a missed opportunity for a kill, the second shot on the first guy is not going to happen if he wasn’t ready at 5 second mark lol so your Leopard 2 and other T-72s/T-80s variants will not able to make all the kills the Abrams did in given the same situation.

yes lol

You would’ve been able to with any tank at top tier if you didn’t shoot at the second guy, because the last guy came charging in and blocked you from being shot by his teammate. He purely got lucky that the last guy wasn’t a split second faster and even then it made it so that he couldn’t shoot at the last guy immediately.

That’s my point.

People will go lengths to explain why 3 primary sources pointing towards an improvement backed up by 10 secondary sources confirming it aren’t enough for the Abrams, but will then proceed to show an edited unverifiable propaganda video as irrefutable evidence for a Russian tank xD.

I’m not seeking a serious discussion about this in all honesty, I just find it comical that some people here are this quick to gulp down a video from a propaganda channel without stopping in their tracks to question if they really should be doing so.

Might as well just throw out any objective analysis & thinking out of the window if barely a second of footage from a propaganda outlet were to be enough to buff certain vehicles…

Except “very clearly” is not good enough to give it a better reverse speed. Hell the thing with propaganda videos like this from both sides is that they don’t mean a whole lot.

Unless you have a clear number in terms of reverse gears or you have a video from inside a BVM 2023 showing it’s actual reverse speed, it shouldn’t be implemented with this supposed better reverse speed.

Sigh… This is just going to end up with a ‘‘Yes it is’’ ‘‘No it isn’t’’ back and forth.

Also, is that true what Nano Gaming is saying? Are you really arguing over all of this stuff without having any experience in any of these vehicles?
It would certainly explain a lot.

Oh, so NOW experience in the vehicles matters!

That’s odd, it did not matter right until now. Shame you blocked me for disagreeing with you, so you will miss this reply.

People like them when some random person makes a good argument: Argues

People like them when a non-top-tier player makes the exact same argument: No experience no opinion

“Trust me bro really it’s moving faster than 11-14 km/h for real these people from a nation currently in a propaganda war and real war surely won’t lie about things involving their military.”

As long as I don’t see hard numbers I’ll just assume it has no improved reverse speed.

I’ll take that as a ‘‘Yes’’.

In which case all of your poor takes and ill-informed opinions suddenly make total sense.
I’d suggest you play these vehicles yourself, then come back once you actually understand the game and can form educated opinions based on personal experience.

Because before that point, I’m essentially arguing with someone saying pancakes taste horrible, but then proceeds to explain he’s never tried them. It’s pointless.

I’d like to say look at the manual but you cant post it here and im not sure which year the manual is from
