I think the South African subtree is the best in the game. The Indian copy-paste SPAA suck but the Bhishma and Vijayanta (and Bison, Jaguar, and Marut for air) are nice additions IMO.
I don’t see why we can’t hold the following positions simultaneously:
Unique subtree vehicles are good additions
Gaijin has fumbled the addition of multiple subtrees, but they nonetheless could be made unique and fun
Unique subtree options are far better than copy-paste trialled vehicles
Which is why the Chally needs fixes, buffs, and more fixes more than anything. These tanks have an amazing reputation irl but are some of the worst MBTs from what I can tell in game. It needs to be improved so that Britain gets competitive equipment in a way that doesn’t enshittify the game further.
Still unique lineups, also not everyone has time and willingness to grind all TTs, having a bit of such experience from other TT is fine, you don’t need to use vehicles you don’t want to use.
As I see it, copy+paste tanks exist partially as a band-aid solution to the game’s atrocious grind. If researching a nation wasn’t such a big commitment, we wouldn’t need all these redundant vehicles. So instead of suggesting Gajin homogenized all the trees with the same vehicles, we should be be suggesting that they make grinding more tolerable.
Not entirely correct. M1A1 and Leopard 2A4 were both considered early on and both considered inadequate. The Chieftain replacement competition ultimately ended up being between Challenger 2, Leopard 2 Improved (what would become Leopard 2A5) and M1A2. Plus the Leclerc, but that was never really taken seriously because of the laughably poor armour.
Gajing said people often grind only 1 TT and I agree with that. I grinded Israel, my brother japan. Other TTs are secondary or further choice. If i don’t have anything to grind in Israeli TT then i go to France, however i wait also for turkey - also middle eastern country, also powerful weapon producent, also has plenty of highly modified American stuff like M113 and pattons and both are my favorite vehicles, for what grinding Germany when altay is like leopard but with aps, everything else is the same. Turkey has plenty of its magaches and M113 making it perfect for me ti continue grinding magaches. I want turkey as separate full TT alone or with alliance with Israel (just sharing slots in lineup presets, that is all, everything else would be separate). Turkey can’t be subtt, just like India shouldn’t be. Spain and Portugal also in my opinion should be together and have as subtt latin America because gajing keep colonial system, but obviously i will be fine with latin America being separate from Europe, gajing also give names for TTs after more important weapon producent. The problem with making grinding more tolerable is this that if people prefer grinding one TT then people would run out of stuff to grind, i personally don’t wanna grind Britain, because British design aesthetically don’t fit my taste too much for example, but still i would like to have challenger and chieftain. Without main TT, people may grind other TT, but for sure with less activity and because of that most likely they gonna spend less money and relocate cash to weifu game or something else like my brother did after finishing japan.
The solution to that is pretty simple. Gajin would just need to add secondary goals for the player to work towards outside the research tree, kinda like how World of Tanks has the gun marks system. There are a lot of ways to go about this.
On the players’ end, just play whatever line-ups you think are fun just for the sake of it?
I feel like that should be obvious, but the fact that more people don’t do this anyways could speak to potential flaws in the core gameplay loop if the only part of the game people are invested in is getting the next vehicle. Surely a game should have more to offer than just a grind?
Everything I’ve said above is kinda moot anyways since making the grind more tolerable doesn’t even mean making it shorter, just less unfun. It’s as simple as not locking fundamental game mechanics behind researchable modifications.
I would imagine more people would enjoy the game more and probably invest even more time than they already do if non-spaded vehicles were generally more useable, even if that meant the research costs of vehicles going up to compensate.
I think the Australian subtree has enough of these for the UK. Though this would have been a better squadron vehicle rather than the Indian T-90. If it ever comes to moving/removing vehicles, have this replace the bhishma.
The fact that 51% voted for yes makes me want to make a suggestion for trailed Rafale and Gripen for Germany and captured/Bought Mig-29 and Su-27 for US
