The armor is not the main selling point, the survivability is, however, the turret is fine.
TKX is a joke of a tank. Just because other tanks have 5s reload doesn’t make any less good. Abrams is the only 5s-mobile better than the Merkava Mk.4.
Both have NATO hump, they have significantly reduced depression over the rear. Leclerc has -2 for example. Type 10 honestly has worse mobility with that awful transmission. Leclerc is faster, albeit the transmission feels way worse at lower speeds, like the tracks have molasses on them. The gun depression on Merkava has not griefed me out of a position yet, it feels adequate, more than 7 even.
And do what damage exactly? Lol. All he can do is damage your transmission.
Here, according to his claim that so called trash TKX has similiar stats to Merkava 4M in terms of K/D ratio while having much better WR, btw 4M is the only Merkava 4 that has comparable stats to TKX rest of them are just straight up worse.
So yea his claims doesnt represent half of the truth about Merkava 4’s, you can ask other players who constantly plays Merkava 4 on its dedicated thread.
I believe its fine where it is considering Click-Bait sits at 12.0 while bein much better in every way tho I have to admit I’ve never bothered to play IPM1 despite bein unlocked for years.
I use it because it has smoke lol it comes in handy on stupid maps like attica else can’t enter the objective points without killing the enemies camping the choke points.
Way more games played in the TKX suggests that there’s a greater chance that an average TKX player is worse than an average Merkava Mk.4 player… and yet the TKX is still doing better.
Japan’s support lineup is much much better, which also helps.
If I had to choose between the Merkava Mk.4 and Type 10/TKX I would enjoy the Merkava Mk.4 much more, however I’m not dealing with the Spyder as AA at 12.7. Not even to mention that Japan is in a much better position than Israel in terms of CAS.
Considering TKX is more mobile and actually has armor on its turret cheeks and on UFP compare to Merkava 4 while having better reload I choose TKX over Merkava anyday, especially after addition of power electronics on Merkava 4.
As for the support vehicles I believe Namer is better than anything Japan offers now but when it comes to SAM system they are just outright better.
With addition of SU-30MKM Japan became one of the best CAS nation in this game.
Despite my love towards Merkava’s, namers and other Israeli vehicles I prefer Japan over Israel anyday due to how gaijin implemented these vehicles, well they also butchered Type-10 family in many ways but at least they perform still better than Merkava’s.
Type 10 / TKX’s turret armour is unreliable, though its definitely more reliable than the Merkava’s.
The lower UFP of the TKX / Type 10 is ~590mm - 620mm thick IIRC, which is definitely better than the Merkava’s.
Though the fact that the Type 10 only has 3 crew members, and can be ammoracked through the breech makes it less survivable than the Merkava.
The Merkava also has slightly better gun handling, though it’s definitely not on par with Russian, Italian, French, Swedish, American, or German MBTs.
Autoloader tends to eat incoming shell more than often these days, not to mention you can also one shot Merkava through its breach.
As for the gun handling that’s the only part Merkava shines compare to TKX family, although Type-10 family should have the same handling that Leopards or Abram’s has but Gaijin still refuses to fix it.
Again, the turret is fine, but the hull is not the greatest to say the least. However, they are quite survivable like I said.
Awful gun handling, awful gun angles, and terrible transmission that makes you tokyo drift and lose all your speed the second you even think of pressing A or D.
They do have a NATO hump, it is just not as pronounced as Abrams or Leopard. They have reduced depression over the rear, in Leclercs case it has -2 over the rear, so it only works on COMPLETELY flat maps. TKX is similar.
Transmission modelling.
By the time he has 1 round in your LFP you have returned him to the hangar with a 120mm M338 APFSDS-T round. Also, Mk.4M has an APS, which prevents you from dying to Kornet. Mk.4 is also pretty resistant to Kornet, but not immune, far from it.
I have played every top tier tank in the game bar the VT4, with top tier in all 10 nations, I think I know what I’m talking about.
With 600mm+ darts (which are found on pretty much any of the great 12.7 vehicles), it’s very lacking from my experience fighting them.
The gun handling is the only one I agree with, though the Merkava’s isn’t a whole lot better either.
The awful gun angles isn’t fixed – you can change it via suspension controls.
Sure, that’s not always as good as having -10 degrees frontally (like the Abrams), or -7 everywhere (with the Merkava), but it’s definitely better in situations such as staying hull-down behind a hill.
And it’s still pretty mobile, and at the very least as mobile than the Merkava Mk.4.
Correct, though that’s a problem for every NATO MBT.
Russian and Chinese, (and of course the Merkavas) are the only vehicles that don’t have that issue.
But then again, for the TKX / Type 10, this can at least be mitigated via suspension controls (either by lowering the clearance, or by tilting the tank slightly backwards).
I think both of you two are decent players, but keep in mind that not all takes that players make are always ‘correct’ even if they have a lot of experience.
Did some testing with Mk.4 turret, looks about like this. It HEAVILY depends on what youre facing, as Russian tanks’ low profile make the upper turret a nightmare, however for something like DM53 on a 2A7 which I tested, its somewhat smooth sailing. My tester said this image is “yep calling that perfect”, and overall he said its trolly and inconsistent.
Spoiler
You expose your ammo so someone can just shoot your roof and you blow up instantly. It also makes your elevation unusable.
I would rather be hull down in a Merkava or Abrams over Type 10 anyday.
Both are mediocre in mobility, however the Type 10’s low speed handling and overall turning make it a pain to use. Do you have the Type 10 or Merkava to compare? You’d know what I’m talking about.
Not to be egotistical, but I am a considerable bit better than him. Is it largely irrelevant? Probably. But I think he should take the Merks out for a spin again, see how good they really are.
