Low tier tanks in top tier battles

M22 at top tier is a free kill no matter how you want to spin it.

The point being, I’d much rather take a competitive player in a 12.0 vehicle than in a M22, this isn’t too much to expect out of players. The fact they’re intentionally doing that and taking the piss is what’s wrong.

I’m having fun. I’m an Army vet and old enough to be the father, and in some cases grandfather of some of the people who I’m playing with. If I want to buy all of the premiums, that’s no ones business but mine. They’re a product, they’re for sale. That’s why War Thunder exists: To make Gaijin money. Premiums don’t make me a better player and winning matches means NOTHING in reality, it’s a GAME. If I wanna spawn a Stewart in a 10.3 match because I have a Superhind, then as a paying customer, Gaijin is more than happy to let me. I keep playing their game, and continue spending money. Bam, capitolism. It’s all about perspective.

What is a Stewart?

Did you mean an M3 Stuart light tank?

The game awards you doing this for some reason. (God mode award).

Yeah, it’s kind of a team cancer thing.

Odds of doing it are low, meanwhile those players are reducing team tickets each time they die easily.

I will often have a sacrifice vehicle in my set (Puma for example). Its very useful if I need to touch a point to stop the clock or get the early cap without the risk of losing something I want to play later in the game. If I play well I can also kill lightly armored, high BR vehicles which is a bonus. AMX 13 is another that works well for this.

I mean it appears I have skill issues with spelling as well. Thanks for the correction - good hunting.

I’d like to agree with you but War Thunder is not really a team sport unless you’re squadding up with people for coordinated play. I know everyone wants their ‘side’ to win, but there are no REAL inscentives to work together and accomplish other goals than eliminating more of the enemy than they do of you. In the end War Thunder is a game - team death match if you will - and until it adds a mode that actually emulates how battles and wars are really fought, I understand the sentiment but really don’t agree.

So THATS what the AMX13 is for! For a while I used that little wheeled German scout car that came with the Chinese starter pack for that.

My favorite ringer is something like the T-34/85 which has a very good chance of taking out LAVs and has eaten more than a few MBTs who wernt paying attention & got too close. I get eliminated 8/10 games I play but…again…its a game. It amuses me.

I agree there’s usually very little team co-operation tactically.

But when players come in with extremely weak vehicles, they put more of a burden on the other players, and make it much harder for them to complete whatever it is they want to accomplish in that battle.

ex: it’s a 2 vs 2 encounter and all things being equal you have ~ 50% chance of coming out of that encounter on top.

Now change one of those 2 players on team A to a vehicle <<< BR of the battle, and you no longer have a ~ 50% chance of coming out on top.

And that sub <<< BR player reducing team tickets easily means you have a lower chance to complete the “win” part of your daily task. Battle is pretty much starting out 15 vs 16.

I’m sorry if I was a bit snippy or rude. One of those weeks, but it’s on me.

Look…to quote a hoodrat saying from my generation “Don’t hate the player, hate the game.”

I get what you’re at and I get your reasoning and admit it’s perfectly sound. I generally DON’T spawn that as my first choice, but if it’s down to a loaner T80 or rolling something like a T-34/85 or IS-2…by that time the match is pretty much already decided, and I’m going to be just one last offering on the alter of the red team victory, or I’m going to get some points on a cleanup. By the time the ‘third rate’ comes into play I’ve already blown through best, and second best…leading me to the following thoughts:

The ugly truth is I stink at GRB no matter what you put me in. The only times I’m EVER an asset to the team is as SPAA, and CAS. I’m just getting into helis, but I’ve got some really good surprise rocket kills on SPGs and IFVs.

No matter what tank I’m in, IDK what it is but other players seem to have all the time in the world to find a weak spot, meticulously aim for it…while I’m still rounding a corner. Maybe I’m old, maybe a year of playing more ARB than GRB means I’m a rolling skill issue…but my ability to get trashed in a tank all the way at the top of the ranks, is about even with my ability to get trashed in a rust heap from WWII.

So…do I just not play GRB at all because I’m going to drag the team down no matter what?

Not being snarky here, an honest question.

Bro, just play the game. We are here for fun and a guy spawning a m22 wont ruin your game the same way a BMPT horde will. You should be posting about how greedy gaijin is and not complainig for such thing

I understand this and have no problem with it. My beef is with players that ONLY use 2nd-rate or even 3rd-rate vehicles in battle. At least by using some decent vehicles you are trying. That’s all one can ask.

You are not alone in this. I’m terrible too. I’m slowly getting a bit better (mostly using lower level garages), but its hard to ditch the arcade tendencies when switching to GRB.

For whatever reasons I really struggle with my US 3.7 garage. It is constantly uptiered to face 4.3 and 4.7 enemies, and I get one-tapped all the time. My only saving grace is my Swedish 4.0 garage - but I gotta say, SWED low-tier spaa is probably the absolute worst in the game at trying to down CAS.

Hey, yeah, OK, I agree with you 110%. Yes, I’ve been a jerk and done that once or twice mostly to grab a loner SPAA and go straight into CAS.

I was a 19K10 (M1 crew) years ago and TBH I just really don’t care for WWII. Its fun to screw around with every now and then but…I prefer laser rangefinders bare minimum. I’ve ‘organicaly’ ground Ru, Fr, and Cn to Rank IV and then just started buying in game prems. Except for Fr which…well, I think br7.0 -7.7 is the best it gets. Then again I remember my TCs who had deployed with them talking about how trash most modern French armored vehicles were.

I have strong feelings about the game modes, and am trying to put together a points paper style suggestion for how to ‘freshen up’ existing modes with out too much work on their part. One thing I hear from a LOT of players is: NO CAS, and bombers ruin ARB - flip side being people want an RB mode (NOT SIM) with real combat dynamics which reward players for operating more closely as a team to protect strike aircraft, fly SEAD/Iron Hand, and eliminate enemy targets for the win instead of just crushing teams. (Edited to add: Combining at least Air & Ground, and possibly Naval too. Limit the number of each that a team can have - say maybe 20-24 vehicles total.) IDK

A lot of time when I play ground, I just want to fly CAS or Helis.

In a strange tale I accidentally ended up with a Skill matters reward.

I had planned to take my French AMX-13-90 into assault to work on a module. But forgot to change the mode so ended up in ground arcade with only my AMX and a little VTT DCA spaa available.

After my AMX was destroyed I put my VTT to use and…

  • shot down a B57
  • killed an M50 with artillery.

Too bad you have to be same vehicle type for the god mode reward.
