Lock radar in SU-30SM Please help

Been playing War Thunder again, in Air-RB using the Su-30SM, When I am locking a target in TWS mode, the lock box more than 50% of the time will lock a target more than 45 degrees left or right of the intended target lock. I can’t seem to understand why this happens, it happens from 10km up to 70km plus

Can’t lock a target, so I am forced to over-commit or just be passively defensive.

My best guess is it’s just the PD lock angle gate being too wide???

With AESA radars, I don’t bother with locking a specific plane with TWS. I just pull up the next plane and fire on it. Lock onto planes when you’re close range.

Yeah, seems to be the only way, it’s really a bit poo to not be able to lock the Giff at like 15-20km knowing he’s just going to slap you before you can get the relock LOL
