Lets talk about the state of Germany

With the update name i expected the pzh2000 for germany…

You get the M109 because they already made it for other trees so Ctrl C + Ctrl V is what it is.

nah then i keep abusing the vidar on 8.0

New cockpit, slightly different engines, and new weapons.
Leaving Germany without a 12.0 would’ve been a bigger insult.

@Miragen
What copy paste?
M109G isn’t in the game yet, thus can’t be copy-paste. And the specific German one still has difference over the other two M109Gs, minor sure, and different none-the-less.

Rank 8 ground & ARHs are obviously the December update.
Leopard 2A7+ & F-4F ICE in one update is looking extremely likely.

It’s in multiple trees, the Pzh 2000 would not have.

Leopard 2A7

Hope so, waiting 3 years to get a good Leopard so Germany can stop being a worse version of Sweden and just a slightly worse version of Sweden, they got the Strv 122 years ago.

Took time for all 10 tech trees to get equivalent tanks.

it’s the same engine

and nobody needs a 12.0 Fighter

id understand if we had a gap in CAS capable Jets but for Fighters ir really doesn’t matter

I expected proper aiming mechanisms for artillery but they are shill for direct fire…

I wish we had charge changing and ruler on the map to aim at map marks.

I got excited and thought Germany will finally get the Zerstörer 45 since they gave some countries new SPAA this update but i guess i was wrong

but hey we got an M109 and the same Mig we already had again

We could argue everyone would have been happier if they would have gotten the modern versions with laser ragefinder

Everyone could be happier if we got Pzh2000 or hell even the Hummel we have been waiting for the Hummel for yrs now if we got it instead of the M109 i can guarantee that almost every german main will be happier

Having the M109 in the same lineup as the Tiger E and the three Panthers is going to be so bizarre.

Drive around in the Yster, Bosvark, and G6, in their relevant BRs. Mad Max Thunder is here!

At least the Yster is a tractor so almost timeless 🤣

I know. It’s just, I guess Germany has been relatively less touched by time travelling stuff than other trees so far, because it doesn’t really need it (in fairness neither does the USSR, and yet).

I think apart from the JPz 4-5 and LeK, there isn’t a postwar German vehicle in the WW2 tree, which is good, especially because those two are easy for my mind to filter out in terms of modernity - one looks like a Jagdpanzer and the other looks like a Chaffee. I’d still happily send them up, but visually at least they don’t stick out too much.

But the M109 is gonna be a sore thumb in there tbh. I don’t know, maybe it’s just me!

SPAA much… and found that 4.3 Chinese one slaps Tigers and Panthers (side of course but try doing that with some 5.3s).

As you say just not used to it, and Rank I and II are so stacked with vehicles it is easy to forget the difficulties you can face in other nations.

One thing Germany require is a light vehicle between the puma and kek. Just copy paste GB SA line as no one will miss it! Edit: and China got their THIRD 5.0 light tank…

I would rather they stick with the WW2 stuff as much as possible. Which isn’t a historical matchmaking argument btw, even the WW2 BRs see plenty of time travel, and "bad’ vehicles like the PT-76 should be where they currently are because otherwise nobody would play them.

But the performance argument doesn’t apply to all time travelling vehicles. Is the M109 more survivable against WW2 tanks than it is against, say, early cold war stuff? Certainly not. This is arty, not meant for the front lines, survivability will never be its thing in this game.

Is it any less lethal? Kind of the opposite. 155mm HE could one shot my Jagdtiger, or I could tank it, it’s pretty much RNG, but land it in the same neighborhood as a Leopard I and boom, back to the pit it goes.

So why put it at 6.0? If you feel it’s the accessories that are lacking, give it a laser rangefinder, which the more modern versions have, and send it up where it belongs.

As for a German light vehicle, here too there are WW2 options yet to be implemented. The Pz II Luchs is the obvious one.

They seem to be trying to give “similar” options to all, FV Battle Barn for UK (and G6), Japan with theirs as the first odd Arti. Which is why they are all still viable, and possibly stronger, higher up, a bit like some of the 4.0-6.0 German TDs.

Of course Germany don’t lack TDs!

Just such an egregious fault to not have more options already in game for what I consider an important role in WT. And then one nation gets 3 at 5.0!

Oh yes, totally, don’t get me wrong, I understand this completely. Vehicles with zero armour and great guns are basically BR agnostic so long as the guns work. But when discussing cold war era or later artillery pieces, especially in major tech trees that already have plenty of other options, that’s not the whole story.

But if this is the direction the game decides to go in, sure, whatever. I’ll give my Jagdtiger or Maus a PzH2000 as a friend and think to myself, damn, the armaments ministry must have really delivered on the whole Wunderwaffen thing! 😁😁

It’s sort of a double whammy. The game is already imbalanced towards light tanks, so being denied them at critical BRs kind of feels like salt in the wound.

Fortunately, I got the PAK Puma in a crate (though it’s a tank destroyer, so not a light vehicle in the sense of BP tasks and getting the airstrike discount). I don’t fly yet (though I will), so for now I don’t miss the aircraft discount myself, but the rest of the team obviously does.

I have also resorted to using “alternate” options to function like light vehicles in situations where that’s required. For example, the VK is the fastest Panther in game, so I’m uptiering it and using it as a light vehicle at higher BRs, like say 5.7. Of course, the nonexistent turret rotation and reverse speed make it a dollar-store take on a light vehicle, but hey, the speed is alright and the gun works if you know how to use it.
