I know there have been many forum entries about how to make ground battles, rb, especially high tier more enjoyable, however most focus on a single topic or are limited in scope otherwise.
I also was thinking about if it even makes sense to write such a post, since I doubt Gaijin devs will ever read it, but I was asked to do so, so I hereby will.
I am playing this game since 2013, have seen its ups and downs. Let’s be honest: We’ve been playing the same game since then, with no major changes. In part, I suspect, this is because Gaijin fears that too much change would drive away some players, costing them revenue. The following list (aka “What I would do if I owned Gaijin”), would certainly drive away some players in an exchange for a better game, so bear with me. I focus on higher tiers, because this is where most work needs to be done, but individual points might be taken into consideration for lower tiers as well.
How to make Ground RB Great Again

Games should last much longer. The average is about 6 minutes now from BRs ~10 to 12. I want to have engaging battles with points being capped and capped back, strategic objectives too (e.g “capture the refinery outpost in the next 10 minutes”)

De-Call-of-Dutyfication: Remove all red zones, map restrictions and roll back all changes which made maps smaller from approx 2020 on.

Make CAS DOUBLE as expensive across the board, but keep it powerful. Helis in particular have been pushed to the sidelines, but would be an important part of a modern battlefield, see Ukraine, Iraq, etc. For Sim (important): Introduce spawn cost for CAS. Currently, we can join a fully loaded CAS plane/heli at the start of the match, that is nonsense. It has been removed from RB a long time ago, yet in sim it’s still possible, leading to half the team or more being in planes or helis from the start.

On very large maps: Introduce FOBs where players can rearm, repair, recrew, without the need of going to a cap circle.

More player x player interaction: Introduce battlefield management systems at top tier and slightly below (~11.0). Example: remove individual drones from lights, instead give them a “satellite overfly” ability on a 10 min cooldown which reveals enemies on the map for 1 minute.

Tactical Commander game slot/task: A Battlefield Commander can group units and give them tasks on a map. Upon task completion, for example capping an objective, they as well as players get points/rp (“Attack Order completed: 3000SL/400RP”. Good job!").
Take inspiration from the old Battlefield 2/2142 commander for this. -
Introduce meaningful leveling of players. Currently capped at lvl 100 and meaningless. Give additional perks (profile customization, cosmetics etc) for unlocking levels

A “server browser” feature: Currently, big corp demands you play X map at Y BR. Maps and BRs are chosen for you. Until the mid 2010s it was normal that players chose the locations etc. they wanted to play on in games. Give that back. Taken from EC, let players choose the map of their liking. Also: Let players create their own lobbies including a map selection + friendly/enemy nations and BR range selection screen. Again, this is already in the game for EC, just needs to be copied over

Introduce two toggles in RB settings:
Toggle 1:
“Play at your BR guaranteed but higher queue times might occur”,
Toggle 2:
“Play at the full ±1.3 BR range, get battles quicker” (I guarantee that most players would choose option 1 here, me included. But since people need options, give them one) -
Reintroduce historically correct enemies/friendlies and maps. Fighting Sweden in my German Leo2A6 on destroyed WW2 Berlin absolutely KILLS immersion. For WW2 BRs it should be Axis vs. Allies, from Korean War on: NATO vs. PACT/USSR. That’s how it is in sim already and just has to be copied over.
Example of how it should be: Large Fulda (or even further enlarged, the assets are already in game, checked in asset viewer - the map is massive, we just fight on a tiny portion), NATO vs. Sowjets/CN. -
To lengthen the match duration, decrease ticket drain rate by 50-80%. I do not want a match that is shorter than 15 minutes, in any possible scenario. Related to that: Heavily penalize one-death leaving, if a player has multiple vehicles in a deck. Crew lock them for 30 minutes.
And an easy solution for those who bought high tier premiums and don’t have a full deck yet: Give them three respawns per match in their tank, until they have acquired at least 1 tech tree tank of the same BR as their premium. -
Elimination of spawn camping (mostly): Spawn points wouldn’t be points anymore but zones, say the complete A line of a map where a player can spawn anywhere he wants (with this also eliminating spawn camping).

Last: For our sim enjoyers, eliminate vehicle-based matchups and reintroduce BR based one with a range of 1.0 or in other words .0 up and .5 down. This way, you could drive all tanks and fly all planes/helis at all hours of any given day.
I know this is by no means a complete list, during my last 6 months or so of playing tanks, I have come up with these as my main points. We can sure talk about details, about how to exactly implement this or that, but maybe we can all agree on the fact that ground RB has to change.
