Let’s talk about the Chieftain

We all are aware that Gaijin models the Chieftains and CVR(T) gearboxes as clutch breaking right…

This is absolute BS IRL the CVRT and Chief steer by speeding up the outside track in game they apply breaking on the inside track…

gaijin does not model regenerative steering for anything. Literally not a feature in game

Dumb. Well I was looking in the Datamine and found this:
This is the stormer and its gear ratios and this is its IRL transmission brochure from the manufacturer.

Legit basically none of the UKs best IRL equipment is even close to what it was IRL. Its almost like gaijin does it on purpose.

Like I want to like the Mk1D but the round never works when I really need it too

The smaller silhouette is nice indeed

Honestly play whatever you like, it’s your line up after all

It goes without saying. But it also goes for saying that support vehicles like the ZT3A2, Falcon, ZA-35, and others have much more versatility and can be easily uptiered to support higher BR line-ups, so it’s always good to get used to them, know how they play, and make the most of them.

Spoiler

Because at the end of the day… they work at their own BR…

…they work at any BR

It’s why you’ll never see me complaining about uptiers in this game. I will always have vehicles designated for those up-tier games. Nothing wrong with going MBT heavy with Britain 8.7, but when you’re going up against a T-72A, or the numerous other powerful 9.3-9.7 vehicles, just remember you have a vehicle available that can nuke them in any spot on their tank. Okay, that’s my sales pitch done for ZT3A2. Good day.

tbh, I’d probably use the Chieftain MK.3/5 more if I didn’t have access to other nations 8.7, such as:

Spoiler

and knowing this is only .3 away…

It’s a tough ask for me to bother with ol’ MK.3/MK.5

Yeah then it one taps a maus frontally at 1700 meters when you dont expect it to even touch it xD Mk1D is at least workable in 8.7

Yeah it allows me at a higher BR to make more mistakes, though I have used both and find them really fun, also the roof MG is handy af for those strafers n helis.

Yeah seeing as ive taken GB to top tier and im just playin 8,7 for fun the lineup does wonders for me

The MBTs for britain at 8.7 are incredibly uptierable.
I still have a khalid in my 10.7 lineup for example and I think even at top tier for a laugh.

yeah but the little rocket runner south african think is also a one tap to them, and is actually larger than a chieftain but yeah get the point.

Genuinely the mk3/5 are some of the funner tanks ive used in this game, people just like to cry about them far , far too much

Love coming across OBJ279 with chieftain man xD can just one tap it usually

this lineup is the one im using for russia rn for a laugh, to try and spade the obj 435 and T55AMD1

its giving me matches like this

Well yeah, you’re judging it from some of the baffoons you see driving it. Here’s a video of me 1-tapping two Object279 in a row with the Chieftain MK.5:

But at the end of the day, 279 kicks a lot more ass (if driven correctly). I am an APDS enjoyer, though.

Thats what I mean man i love being in the chieftain and facing 279s!
Well I am aware the 279 when ti was 8.7 and 8.3 was absolutely dominant at 9.0 now its not really that big a deal, plus I learned how to face it properly as well so.

It’s okay to admit that you’re sad that you don’t have the 279, bro. I would be sad, too. Thing rocks at 9.0.

Nah man well im aware it isnt suffering, its no where near what it used to be at even 8.7, never mind when it was a stomper at 8.3
personally id prefer the IS7 over the 279.

Sad I missed it? not really.

Sad and mad at myself for selling PT16/14 and T72 moderna? definitely.

Don’t get me wrong I love the ZT3A2, but it suffers massively from being a Ratel based platform, the mobility is horrible, considering WT is almost always in a meta revolving around mobility I can’t recommend it, especially with the missiles being amongst the slowest ATGMs in game too.

Yeah, wouldn’t mind a faster reload though gaijin

It’s no AFT09, but it has buttery smooth thermals and doesn’t even need to use its mobility. You wanna snipe with that bad boy. Missiles move nicely, even being on the slower end. I love it.

For example, I got a nuke (well I ran out of time to drop it, but still) in this match by sitting here for most of the match:

Spoiler

That’s quite typical for how you want to use it. Not even that far from spawn. Use it when the situation suits. Anyway, this is a Chieftain topic - I wouldn’t want to dissuade people from leaving their MBTs, I need targets to ATGM.

You seem to know a lot more than i do, as you said you have all trees i still have not finished italy, sweden or Japan so you seem to be the more experienced here. This is what i fear in essence, if it got a better engind and a lrf im almost 100% certain that gaijin will move it up. While not a problem it will ruine an amazing 8.7 lineup. My suggestion for a reload buff is so it can stay where it is while improving it slightly.

The T55 is more MOBILE, not necessary faster. Maybe i misunderstand the word, but i understood mobile to mean an encompassment of movement. Speed, time to get to speed, manouvarability, speed lost when manouvering etc etc. I definitely feel it moved around better than the pattons or any centurion/chieftan around the 8.7 br. Anyway the mobility is neither here nor there.

I play cold war and late WW2 almost exclusively as i do not enjoy top tier too much, the varitety in vehicles is not enjoyable. And i mean in a gameplay sense, all vehicles have great mobility, great armor, great firepower. It is not like cold war or WW2 where some vehicles excel in certain aspects and dont in other. LIke German tanks are well armored but do not have stabilisers, Americans ones tend to have less armor but are stable, t3485s are just my love and are perfect (i free ace all of them except the finnish t3485), is2s have amazing cannons but slow reload and you can take advantage of this, german tank destroyers are deadly from the front and range, so you must get close and flank. I remember a game on mozdok (the longer version) in the 76mm jumbo, this was when the is3 was 7.0, i could not attack him from far away and he was holding C cap, i reloaded smoke shells and shot it at him until i was close, he kept advancing to see me but i kept shooting smoke, when i was close enough i loaded armor peircing shell and waited for him to come through the smoke, i shot his barrel, then tracks and moved to his side. I could never or rarely ever have an experience like this at top tier, it was very exciting and i was on the edge of my chair focusing very hard, this is atleast 2 or 3 years ago and i still remember this moment. Apologies for going off topic.

Anyway, during the serpent event i only played 8.7 britain and some ww2 sim when the day of its bracket came. The cheiftan was my last spawn always, IF needed. Most times i would get enough spawn points with the roikat, za35 or falcon (falcon ussually gets a nuke especially against germany, sweden and USA with their delicious cupolas, it is another vehicle i have a free ace in and something stupid like 1200+ kills and 380 or 390 deaths) so atleast recently i can say i have not seen too many of them, I was spading the strv103a a few days ago and was confused when i saw a cheiftan mk3 with a dozer blade ( i have the blade disabled on mine so i had a few seconds thinking what variant is that?) I wish we had access to statstics so we could form better suggestions to gaijin, but oh well.

Unfortunately in this game mobility is the meta, a mobile tank with a decent enough ammunition can deal with everything. Slow tanks suffer, it is one of the reasons i believe people wanted the 120s upgraded m60 with abrams turret to have its proposed export engine. I love the m60s but that is one i stayed away from.

Anyway friend i do not disagree with you, i fully agree that the mk5 should have its engine and lrf, however my heart wishes it could be slightly better and retain its BR. Thankyou for taking time to read and reply my comments, sometimes i can talk too much.

Thats so cool

Not as cool as the 840 HP engine they should have or the Armour.

Yes yes An_Pigeon has drilled that into my head a fair bit. I would love for it to get all these but i really like it at 8.7 and i think an engine and lrf would make gaijin move it up. Which is why i suggested a slight reload buff to give it some improvement while remaining at 8.7.

But i found the document itself cool in nature, the way military vehicles can be developed. The behind the scenes of it. I am unsure of the full document but i like to imagine that some politician with no knowledge on the matter saw something on TV about a russian tank and started annoying someone in the MOD about it

Was more of higher ups seeking a professional opinion about how ones nations military equipment compares to another.

It would stay at 8.7 as the Mk5 actually would get a LOSS in HP Gaijin in their classic style haven’t even come close in modeling maybe as its a British vehicle.

No reason for it to go up 720 HP an UFP that isn’t paper and a LRF would only put it on par with other 8.7s

Ah fair enough, intriguing nonetheless.

Dont be so sure with Gaijin, shes an unruly and unpredictable beast. You may get your engine but upgrade and lrf but much like a Gaunter O’DIm she will have a devilish way to turn what you want into ruin.
