Yaas more bug reports for th3 chieftains
Anyone got a bug report out for the l15 now that its on the shir 2?
are you fking kidding.
The shir 2 has the L15A5 round ??? the Chieftain mk5. mk10 and khalid should all get it.
is it also the same as teh L15A3 ? as it should have higher penetration values especially on the angle.
As the core is tungsten opposed to the softer copper cobalt that was in the A3
welcome to gaijin…
then they should give the Type 90 JM43, not even sure it existed put it to 11.7 so 10.3s can get a breather.
While were at it, id like to have some APFSDS on my shot kal alef at 8.0
Why? cause its gaijin bro and the ammo is used for balancing broo
Like chieftain missing literally the majority of its ammos , why? cause we feel like thats why F you! xD
sorry letting off steam there
JM43 doesn’t exist. JM33 is Japanese domestic production DM33.
Im well aware it doesnt exist.
thats the point in the rant hence the disclaimer at the end that i was blowing off steam.
The L15A5 round should be better than the L15A3 round as the cores are composed of completely different metals.
L23A1 is L23 they are the exact same round, seen someone say about it being a prototype round which it wasnt and isnt the L23 round just became L23A1 once officially in service.
Like why we dont have just an L15 round.
We are in the realm of either using ammo to balance, or unbalance vehicles and BRs.
The cannon on the type ten in theory could fire DM43 so whats to stop them adding JM43, same as theyve added things such as the L23, or for ages had M829A1 on stuff like the HC and click bait which is now somehow gone completely.
They pick and choose random AF stuff to use and not use
the mk 5 and to some extent the MK3 chieftain should get the L15A5 round, the mk5 used it in service and the mk3 could use it once it entered service.
So why on the Shir 2 is the L15A5 round as we know right now the exact same as the L15A3
it makes no sense. why would britain develope an entirely new cored round, new alloys for it, if it was the exact same as the one already in service.
Why is it called L23 and L23A1
it makes no sense.
all of that was the point of my innane rant
EDIT: caveat, the same document they used to nerf the begliet engine power. ALSO shows the begliet was tested with an APDS round. But apparently the same document is sufficient eenough to give the begliet apds but it is to nerf the engine power.
Makes no sense
Still asking for a chieftain mk5 LRF and access to the proper L15A5 rround!
Any way we can make a suggestion of the stuff here?
Good luck the armour isn’t even correct.
Wait the chieftain armours wrong as well? xD
Going to slap this write up here.
Regarding the Armour of the Chieftain as we all know the engines are completely incorrect. A report will be made soon so gaijin can promptly ignore it.
The upper frontal cast of the chieftain was a solid cast plate that encompassed the entire UFP as well as the sides surrounding the frontal circumference of the turret ring. The general had a basic thickness of 86mm thickening to 120mm for the upper plate. It than stretched from its lap joint over the lower frontal plate to the back ring on the vertical sides (seen as the red thick parts in game) it was 6.09 inches thick.
This was the foundry inspection requirement. In manufacturing terms the cast thickness had to fall within the specs listed otherwise it was a bad cast and would need to be redone. War Thunder works on ideal world specs (Russian tanks can drive and don’t fall apart at the welds every game and have functioning equipment) I.E best case scenario is assumed for vehicles.
With this thickness inspection sheet it would be in good practice for War Thunder to give the Chieftain its max allowance armor thickness as that would in fact be the ideal and perfect cast.
Values should be as follows for the UFP in line with the driver 110 mm for the lip that over hangs the LFP (100 in game rn on the mk10)
Going up the thickness should be 93.2 mm half way between the hatch and the lip. (86 in game in a singular section with the sides being 70 instead of 80mm)
Directly to the sides of the hatch and back the thickness starts to increase again. With U6 being 80mm again and U3 being 102. (jumps straight from 70 to 110 in game)
Back and sides following the turret ring increase to 120 in the mid rear section to 150 on the side rear section. (in game this is a solid section of 127mm)
The direct sides of the UFP cast are 212 mm thick at C4 tapering to 155 by C1. (in game this is 3 section of 220 - 210 - 165)
Yes currently in write up.
So essentially in game its completely inaccurate and im assuming has inaccurate levels of protection then, considering IRL it functions as one completely casing which is more durable.
just wow.
Whats the deal with the engines, Im aware that the duel fuel engines where a damn headache IRL to begin with
The early engines where terrible yes but by the Mk7a engine they where putting out 720 HP reliably.
The Mk10 Chief should actually have the Mk11A and make 840 HP.
Second note is the Leyland L60 is a two stroke diesel and should make its power and torque with just half the revs of a conventional 4 stroke diesel engine.
Further information here:
All Chieftains have the wrong engines Mk3/5/10 // Gaijin.net // Issues
So realistically all the chieftains should be accelerating far faster, I mean its well documented that in cross country the kept up with leopard 1 due to the mix of the suspension and acceleration.
People like to say British tanks are fine, but genuinely I think for almost every single vehicle, they have loads of bug reports. I mean the CHieftain MK5 report for a LRF was accepted over a year ago, how difficult is it to implement it.
or the scimitar, god how awful the tank is to use, it slides about like mad, dumps its speed then just refuses to get any back xD
(BTW The vickers MK3 as well has a similar engine if im not mistaken)
Uses the same engine just an earlier version. With more HP than the one in game lol.
The Scimitar is a whole other issue and its dumb it is the fastest tank in the world yet it gets out accelerated by ZSUs
The other major point is the Chieftain is missing a lot of frontal protection.
how much are we talking though?
Cause right now It gets penned by literally rank 1s which makes absolutely no sense.
On this yeah it is ridiculous man, i also dont see why we didnt get the more modern version of it as well as a modification or something
So basically all the engines are artificially nerfed for no reason
The lower frontal plate is correct at 3 inches however the upper plate gets like an extra 20mm in a few parts and some parts get slightly less. Over all the protection would be better.
man, they really need to fix the chieftain. could be a potentially amazing tank, I mean it is my favourite but that doesnt make it exceptionally good.
Its engine upgrades will prove to be incredibly useful (hopefully) and hopefully a LRF for the mk5
