Leopard 2RI: In the Indonesian Jungle

I don’t understand?

We never exported Leopards to France, Italy, Japan etc… Thats the issue. If Indonesia or whatever country would be ingame, they should get it. But right now this subtree nonsense is watering down all tech trees that ingame nations became almost pointless.

Also: It pumps up certain nations too much. Like GB having crusaders, abrams, leopards, T-90 and whatnot…all in one tech tree. At the end you can chose one of these patchwork nation trees and you get just everything from all around the world.

You will buy your premium Puma, you will get farmed by BMPTs and you will like it

wait what

L27a1 being ignored.
Turret basket addition.
Trunnions still a huge weak point.
Cr2s have the smallest ready rack at top tier as well as the slowest reload after the ready rack is emptied.

They are objectively the worst top tiers after tbis patch

If the options are between not having most nations represented at all, having some nations be near unplayable compared to others, or the current slight creative liberty that adds up smaller nations to more closely match larger ones then this is arguably the best system.

The subtree system is flawed in many ways, but the general concept makes sense since it finds a way to add nations that aren’t in any other games without making them terrible to play, at the cost of in theory only making the different in game factions closer to eachother in potential.

I mean sure, at the end of the day something will be the meta. If that’s something like GB through 3(+ Canada sometimes) subtrees, or a nation with incredibly diverse procurement like Poland or a nation with tons of different very advanced prototypes like the USA ultimately isn’t all that different.

And just a nation operating a handful of German vehicles doesn’t mean that it suddenly replaces Germany. For example I doubt many people play the Finnish Bf-109Gs, then think they don’t ever need to play unique German models like the Bf-109K.

Though at this point I’ll have to agree that to balance out exports there also need to be unique developments from the exporting nation. Of course an export Leopard seems worse than it is in reality when Germany in game has fewer unique, non-exported Leopards than they do in reality.

“so it’s a leopard 2Pl basically”?

In part. The Leopard 2RI doesn’t get the upgraded sights that the 2PL has, but in exchange gets the full AMAP armor package for the hull while the 2PL doesn’t get any additional hull armor.

There’s also other differences that don’t actually matter in game like the added A/C in the back of the turret of the 2RI or that only the 2PL gets spall liners (in game they are missing, so they’re the same here).

While 2PL goes to the producer/upgrade country, the 2RI goes to a totally uninvolved nation. Thats quite a difference.

The 2RI goes to Indonesia because that’s in game, Poland isn’t in the game yet so it goes to Germany for now. Not too hard to understand.

It goes to Japan.

Yes, which is a very confusing name for a techtree that isn’t just Japan anymore, but that’s also 8/10 nations by now so it’s nothing out of the ordinary.

The current nations, at least officially are:

  • USA
  • Germany/Switzerland (+ Maybe Argentina? They use it like a subtree but never confirmed it.)
  • USSR
  • UK/South Africa/India/Australia
  • Japan/Thailand/Indonesia/Malaysia
  • China/Pakistan
  • Italy/Hungary/Romania
  • France/Belgium/Netherlands/Luxembourg
  • Sweden/Finland/Norway (+ Maybe Denmark? They use it like a subtree but never confirmed it.)
  • Israel/Greece/Cyprus

To be fair the game UI’s way of conveying this is terrible and finding out what nation goes where basically forces you to religiously follow news / forums or go to the main subtree topic here that only existed for a month or so.

I would put Argentina under Germany with the same question sign, because answering why Pucara is added to the German TT, BVV_d said that they already have a lot of Argentinian vehicles inside. I guess they will continue to put them here.

Yeah true, Argentina is a bit like Denmark where it’s used as a subtree, but never confirmed (yet?)

German mains:
How dare Gaijin put an export vehicle, specifically modified for the operator nation and never operated by Germany in the operators TT.
Also German mains:
How dare Gaijin not give us X vehicle that Germany never operated, owned or tested but was parked in Germany for a few days by the operator nation, so clearly it should be added to Germany!
I get that it’s probably not the same people, but still…

i read this article and believed every work of it :P

But you did to Netherlands, Hungary and Indonesia which are subtrees of France, Italy and Japan respectively. None of them are large enough to make a tech tree, so they are best implemented as a subtree.
