No it doesnt, the 120mm dm 23 is better than the soviet short rods like the 3bm22 or the 3bm15
More flat pen though, but yes the dm 23 does have better angle performance. Never the less the german tech tree isn’t that great.
Just barely more flat and 40mm less at 60º, thats far more of a difference, also they ricochet easier, the 120mm dm23 is better

3BM-22 can penetrate an M1’s LFP at 900m.
DM23 can penetrate an M1’s LFP at 1900m.
Pen values don’t tell the whole story, various APFSDS design are inferior to others, they will have coded modifiers that reflect that.
The easiest way to check this modifier is by comparing the shells’ performance against composite armour, if the shell is of a inferior design it will generally result in higher equivalent armour provided by the composites.

War Thunder isn’t about armour, it’s about mobility and first hit cripple/kill.
The Leopard 2A4 is one of the best 10.7’s in the game for exactly that reason.

I can’t denny or confirm if the Leopard 2A4 “Good tank” as I’ve didn’t research it or play it. But from what I see from the stats and online in my opinion it isn’t that great (enjoyable, fun, effective, easy to grind with) from what I heard and see unlike for example jagdpanther IV or Sd.Kfz.251/9.
So I’ll summarize the Leopard 2A4 here (coming from someone that has the M1A2 SEP v2, Leopard 2A7V, T-80BVM and Challenger 2):
- 9/10 gun handling characteristics.
- 5/10 armour.
- 9/10 mobility.
- 7/10 firepower.
- 5/10 survivability.
Considering that armour and survivability don’t matter much to good players who don’t get hit in the first place, this vehicle has everything you need.
You can reach powerpositions quickly because it’s one of the most mobile vehicles in it’s entire BR range, it’s got a solid gun that’ll comfortably pen anything you meet and it’s got incredible gun handling, only beaten by the M1 Abrams.
Most people that complain about the M1 Abrams or Leopard 2A4 are, and I’m sorry to say, bad players that don’t understand how the game works. Often they also tend to be mains for that nation and think that ‘Grass is always greener on the other side’, or they’ve never even played it to begin with.
