It’s more so the problem that for example, the Buk M3 only has 6 missiles, per launcher(2)12 total)). With most mixed loadouts CAS carries, that can very easily overwhelm any SPAA, and that’s only the 1st interaction, not including any other CAS interactions from a different aircraft, on top of that you’ll have to go to a point to refill once you’ve depleted your ammo box, which isn’t guaranteed because point isn’t a safe place too be in a large AA system.
And staying stationary is almost always a death sentence.
It’s more so what variables SPAA have to deal with relative to what CAS has to deal with.
No, pilots that no what they are doing, especially helicopter pilots. Will fire off a missile or AGM last minute to ethier hit the oncoming SAM missile, or spoof the lock if it’s a PAntsir or ITO-90 relying on LOS and able to track multiple targets.
That’s because that was a Pantsir that is an SPAA system designed to protect the actual SAMS. Close to medium range air defence, almost no other nation has anything close to that platform.
Taking the Pantsir out of the equation, you have nations with just normal SAMS that can’t keep up with overwhelming munitions, sure statistically SAMS + ammo crate may outnumber CAS munitions, but in practice that doesn’t mean they can keep up with multiple fired at them, that’s what I’m getting at. So the fact that CAS can somehow shoot down SAMS with their own missiles flying in a straight line is giving them more of an advantage they do NOT need.
Ground CAS is super compressed its why the phantoms are the same BR as the F35 despite having skyflash and more missiles and having the same amount of 1000lb bombs.
Buddy my point is aircraft aren’t actually locking and shooting at spaa missiles they are launching at other targets and the game is just showing the spaa missile that intercepts the ata missiles as being destroyed by ata missile instead of the other way round its a glitch you see it all the time with smoke grenades “destroying” an atg missile when the tank dies.
its pretty funny honestly lol Imagine spaa players crying about the targets they chose to shoot…we should just gib them all an I win button allready so they dont even need to think…
This sounds about as stupid as helicopters being able to spray unguided rockets in the direction of incoming SAMs to detonate them away from the helicopter, which to my knowledge is no longer possible.
If this is actually an intended feature, it sure is a stupid one. If we want to ever truly solve the CAS problem’s actual causes, the intended counters need to actually work consistently.
Most noticeable with the Pantsir, if they fire a few last minute, the lock can switch to the munitions instead of the helicopter, this is a known issue.
They aren’t you are legitimately just seeing spaa players shooting down munitions and it constantly glitching out over and over again, I have in all of matches one time on accident shot down a pantsir missile by shooting off zuni’s right as it was near me. It seems entirely likely that they are either just getting lucky and happen to be dropping ordinance as your missile is about to strike, or better yet the object ends up taking away the radar signature of the missile and gets targeted instead. And could you at least provide us with a clip of it if its so common?
I see player spawn spaa as first verhicle in top tier battle counter scout drones or set up tellar verhicle in position. The Buk M3 is big spaa that compensate the weakness with with range.
