Most of the first 3 tiers of this game are WW2 with the exception of much of Sweden and bits of France and they are fairly recent additions.,they still have separate BRs. You dont have the panzer 2 with the Tiger 1 in the same BR do you yet they rolled out together during WW2 in places and there is 3 years between them.
1-5 BR is historical matchmaking naturally ,by default. I played Germany for months before I even realised I was sharing with Cold war tanks because Germany is pure WW2 so late in BR terms,so is the USA and Russia with very few exceptions think its all WW2 up to 6 BR.So that is era seperation in the game working brilliantly.1-5 BR is not rammed with cold war junk either destroying immersion or gameplay.
When it comes to 6BR and above that is where many see problems hence the OP.
As I said the game is to broken or too far gone depending on how you see it but the OP is annoyed and rightly so as I am…
Enlisted is a good example of the latter when they split the campaigns into tiers 1-5 where it goes 1-3 and 3-5
No one who can avoid it plays tier 3 or tier 1 because you’ll just be sent to tier 5 all the time and be at the bottom where you can’t compete well, and so everyone either plays tier 2 or tier 5 if they have a choice
I dont expect WT to change but if they did then a straight Tier 3 cut would be the place I think .Cut the game in half and have two divisions.Tier 1-3 div 2 Tier 3 to top Div 1 .Like putting the Berlin wall up with vehicles split on each side.
I dont think it will ever happen and I will survive if it never does.
Well they could be, if penetration resulted in getting a kill.
The main issue with a Cromwell fighting against a Tiger in WT, is that even when you penetrate the 80mm turret or hull side, the damage isn’t enought destroy it.
At best it disables the tank for a while.
In real life, the tank would be destroyed but in WT you need magic APHE rounds.
Same with the M24. The only thing keeping it at 3.7 are T-34 and KV-1s which are just as tough to kill with the 75mm as Panthers and Tigers.
The T-34 has very good mobility an the KV-1 isn’t particular slow either and is probably harder to kill for the M24 than a Tiger with its 62mm lower side armor and rounded turret.
Doesn’t help that every other nation also have stabilized Shermans that can quickly kill a M24.
While a Firefly that should be capable to killing Panthers and Tigers from more than 1.5km again is again easier to kill.
iS3 Has like what 27s reload time. Usually i dont spawn that tank anymore. Sure, its situationally good tank still, but i dont see it in as high regard as i did before. Map changes are part of the blame there. Fox prolly front pens that tank too :D
I never have problems against same era tanks on Tiger 2. I have problem when therei is fox, or a Somua which frontal plate is literally non penetrable with tiger, it has autoloader, moves 2-3x faster and shoot every 4sec.
Well Somua actually existed on same era, but yeah :D. ITs still good example.
That could be done for something like the 75 mm and 57 mm cannons, for which the US developped APHE rounds, even if the British didn’t use them themselves.
But stuff like the 17 pounder and 20 pounder just do not have APHE rounds, they don’t exist for those cannons.
There were a couple prototypes for tanks, to my knowledge, but nothing that entered production. Generally too complex and fragile for the limited benefit they would have given over a conventional loader at the time. Everyone was more focused on getting as many tanks into the field as possible. Except the Germans, but their mania was directed elsewhere.
The Chi-Ri II is the only WW2 era prototype ground vehicle including an autoloader that we have in game, and unfortunately it’s not the design variant that was intending to use a belt loading mechanism for the main gun.
It is generally recommended that you use Heavies to lead the charge (especially if downtierd)but at 6-7 and maybe later BR is it advisable to hang back in a WW2 heavy and try and pick off the faster moving stuff trying to flank and use their speed?
So I am asking if and how players change their tactics re WW2 at mid BR or if they even do.
How are you making late WW2 heavies work in the face of modern vehicles and ammo?
I was also thinking about something like that yesterday. But more like that heavy tanks only fight heavy tanks or something.
Only being to spawn certain vehicles after some time won’t work, since players want to play certain vehicles and not be restricted in some way.
I rather have specific benefits added to vehicles to make them worthwhile to play, even when they are objectively inferior to others, like PT-76 vs. M41.
But I guess it would help to have more objectives other than just 2-3 caps every map.
