Laser bombs haven't been working properly for a month now

Laser bombs are currently not working properly. If you drop a laser bomb at a range where its homing system does not capture the laser target designator, it will fly past. The problem is reproduced on any bomb with Paveway II type equipment (cheap laser targeting equipment) laser guidance. My report about this serious problem was ignored, but since the problem affects a large number of aircraft it needs to be solved as soon as possible.

The problem is reproduced on any aircraft with Paveway II bombs or any bomb with cheap laser targeting equipment(KAB-500L, MK.13, GB500) if the bomb is dropped at a distance before the seeker locks on.

Oh thank god this wasn’t just me.

Whenever I use Mk.13 LGBs and lob them, the second they get lock they immediately start doing crazy maneuvers to bleed speed.

It sucks because now to drop bombs I literally on top of enemies to make sure they get lock.

I used to use Jaguar IS at 11.7 because it used to be 3 guaranteed ground kills, and 2 guaranteed air kills (if there is air up). It has this whilst still retaining pretty decent flight stats, but now I can’t use it because the bombs just won’t guide.

F117 is entirely useless at this moment, unless you’re using the GPS bombs. Even at low altitudes ~2500ft the bombs are still missing entirely.

Not sure if someone has made a bug report yet or not.

thats why ive been using jdams for now its pretty garbo that gaijin just doesnt fix this despite advertising over 1000 bug fixes per update

Ever since leviathans devs been doing crack on the job it seems

Yeah. Ive been having this loads as well.

The issue seems to be the CCIP point is completely wrong when dropped from alt, resulting in the GBU falling well short of the target and thus doesnt capture the laser.

Actually just had a 4k bomb from a Canberra land miles from where I aimed it using the bomb sight. Something seems really broken

Do you also have a problem of the mk.13 lgb going in a strange guidance pattern? Because whenever I try to lob the mk.13 lgb, it will get a lock, but instead of guiding to the target it will just start doing a corkscrew maneuver

No comment :P

I havent seen that, (though might have missed it) instead it just feels like the bomb is actually falling into the CCIP area when dropped from higher up and so, is no where near the laser and isnt seeing the laser. Though even if it could see it, I doubt it could correct enough to get onto the target.

I’ll record a video and send it when I get home, it is probably the most annoying thing ever

But yeah, Im not a good ground player, but I play enough mud movers that Im practically the expert on it. Not being able to hit a static target with a GBU has been infuriating. laser a target, waiting for the impact and nothing, not even an explosion has been driving me kinda crazy

I just use IR mavericks or dumb bombs with the mk1 eyeball targeting pod because at least they get close to the target

Even dumb bombs. Had a perfect drop for an unguided bomb with CCRP and it landed miles away. I think something might be funementally broken with bombs at the moment when alt is involved

I have never managed to get CCRP to work, im using ballistic computer or scraping my plane on their turret as i drop the bomb

This same issue affects the APKWS rockets aswell something funky with the laser guidance

Preexisting thread about the same issue! They also have their own bug report, if everyone wants to click on that one too 🙂
