I guess gaijin consider new British aircraft toptier rank VIII in december but not this major update
Been confirmed for december update now. We know for a fact we are getting something this year but not this update. that being said we’ve only been told its “top tier” which could mean anything. Might even just mean a top tier CAS jet like the Harrier Gr9A
I believe it is more likely a fighter/interceptor as the initial question was referencing a counter to the Mig-29SMT
We can hope that is what they are planning, but they’ve not exactly been kind to Britain in the past few years. Though Im personally expecting the Sea Harrier FA2. Capable, maybe fun, probably 12.3, but far from truly competitive (though that is entirely dependent on what is added where)
the thing about the time span of dev was removed from the changelog post so prob extento dev, wait no just me looking at wrong thing

From the FRS1 getting a load of work, to it being our last Gen 3 A2A fighter and the fact its an ideal test platform for something. It just feels too perfect not to get it.
Whilst it might not be terribly competitive though, I’d be very happy with it. At least within my perferred gamemode of SB

I think it will fair well if used properly, only if we get Fox 3’s like we’re predicting, that standoff capability will prevent it from being forced into a dogfight so in the right hands it will have a better chance I think
My only concern with the FA2 is that it will have the same Aim-120s as something like the F-16 or whatever Gen 4 the US is innevetably getting this Dec.
In that scenario, it doesnt necessarily hold an advantage. Now if it gets Fox 3 and the F-16C doesnt. Then it would stand a reasonable chance. Likewise it could get Aim-120C5s (it potentially had them)
But regardless of that, Blue Vixen is an awesome radar.

Honestly the december update looks to be huge. New top tier aircraft for Britain and Sweden and possibly rank VIII ground with the earlier leaked T-90M and the confirmed Leo 2 variant(s).

range doesn’t matter much past a certain point imo
missile is slow, it has more chances of losing lock if it travels over great distances
not to mention a heli has to climb dangerously high to get a good view of the battlefield at these ranges
Not a chance. Kurnass could pretend to be a fighter, JH-7A can’t do that.
Inb4 Leo 2 Evo/Revo :p itll probably be the 2A6 with the armor package or the 2a7 to “counter” the 90M tho in all seriousnes

Not necessarily true its essentially just a chinese Jaguar with fox 3 capability and VERY powerful IR missles
they should add conventional bombers like tu 95 and b-52 before they add anything like the f22 or the f35

No, they should not add conventional bomber the F111 is already the drawing the line, where it should end for the the Bomber in line war thunder.
I disagree, just the gamemodes have needed an overhaul now for over half a decade

There needs to be bigger maps more things to bomb other then bases for tonnage and bases and ground targets need to be more spread out and imo not marked unless its the enemy base if that makes sense
But that could be exploited so im not quite sure
Or just give us “Air RB Small” (Small maps and lobbies) and “Air RB Large/EC”
