from the read I did on the old Type 81 thread i couldn’t find anything that aerodynamic issues was the cause for lower range rather just that the seeker would be inaccurate at max 14km range.
Both missles are identical in shape and motor only the front section is different which i guess can change aerodynamics so that is interesting.
Sure, it’s easy to brag about beating France when you can only do it with the rest of Europe bought with your own money, or when we can’t fight back and we’re stuck in port. easy targets for people without honor, as we all know :)

IR version of the seeker dome is aerodynamically disadvantaged. It is similar situation with the R-27T and R-27R.
The majority of blogposts weve gotten is ships which, as much as I hate the stereotype of “Oh, this’ll be fun for the 1 guy who plays Naval”, it is by and large the least played gamemode and least interesting to a vast part of the players

I’d love to love naval (its a pretty poor gamemode at the moment being carried by EC) but even im not interested in the new additions and I think i could talk more about the Royal navy than I can the RAF.
Realistically it should still be 14km right? Because the suggestion post said it could be fired optically without a lock so it’s kinda like a Fox 3 but IR instead of radar?

Only nation that gets a Sympathy card from me is Sweden in reference to air. China maybe a little due to lack of native stuff at top tier, but they do have a totally competitive F-16.

Probably as David said change in nose caused lower range and i agree with the lower range of the IR version not hitting 14km just a bit interested if it is aerodynamics or seeker that prevents it hitting 14km unlike the radar version David is most likely correct however.
inb4 if the Leo 40/70 is coming they will cry that they should get it too because Leo hull
