Yeah, I both agree and Disagree. Having Aim-120C with the Blue Vixen would be fun, especially if all others were using SARH. But that aint happening. Which would mean sub sonic truck in ARH vs ARH.
But would be a marked improvement over the F3 though, both in a dogfight and BVR and in QoL in SB

Okay but the time to turn on a sea harrier at the moment and do a good 90⁰ bend is insane compared to F16, F14, MiG29A, MiG29SMT, German MiG29, even MiG21s.
You’d die before you even get to notch, because:
A) you’re slow as fuck
B) your range is very weak because you’re slow as fuck
C) you cant go cold because they’re faster
D) you cant notch because you’re a brick
E) you stand no chance against 4+ fighters
You’d be obliterated by an enemy ARH missile before yours even reaches weapon release cue

Yeah, it would be carried by the radar. Hard.
My point of comparison would the Gr7 vs those jets. Whilst obviously not as good. Off boresight shots with Aim-9M and radar might help partially bridge the gap. Most people are stupid when it comes to fighting something that can VIFF.
Now if it got Aim-9M and/or better AMRAAM than everyone else, it would hold an advantage. But those are just not viable options anymore So yeah, it would be DOA or at least a clear underdog

S.Harrier FA2 is an awesome plane. But put it against 4+ fighters? It’s no match. This aircraft fought mirages and A4s. Not dogfight multirolers
DOA for sure until there’s decompression. It has no place in game right now unless they add it withour AMRAAM and put it at 11.7 but even then - you handle like a brick, you’d just get clowned on
without AMRAAM it would be DOA at almost any BR. Its one overwhelming advantage is the Blue Vixen combined With some decent ARH, it would out stick most. But without that advantage. Even at 11.3 it would be a debatable upgrade over the F3.

Aye, but it’s a subsonic low alt naval plane.
It’s heavy, it’s slow, it’s unable to go very high, its radar is great, but wont be much use when an AMRAAM is slung at you at Mach 2 before its motor kicks in, long before he’s halfway to being engagable. You’re a defensive flank support plane

Actually, apparently they usually flew at 30k ft. At that alt, they were really strong. F3s struggled past 20k
Unfortunately, in WT. you’d be stuck at low alt, where those key advantages dont play out. FA2 would entirely be reliant upon what else was added and when. FA2 being one of the only AMRAAM carriers? Competitive. All jets including FA2 getting the same AMRAAM? DOA
It’s not so much a case of engine capabilities, but where you’d be relegated to.
You go high- your enemy gains another range advantage in the thinner air.
Your missiles aren’t even launched at mach 1, so you lose out on a massive amount of range to kill

By all accounts actually, FA2 quite liked the high alt, it could sit at its max speed of around Mach 0.85 at 30k ft quite easily, but most other nations rarely flew that high, due to fuel. meaning you’d have the range advantage. Blue Vixen also would easily out range in terms of lock as well.
But unfortuantely, thats IRL. In WT, i’d maybe risk sitting at 10k ft, with the Sky Guardian RWR and the new RWR mechanics in game. Especially if we ever see ECM. But I do play SB. Its got inherrent advantages in that gamemode. I can play it “properly” anything short of Typhoon for Britain is never going to good in ARB. Only CQB brawler we’ve got

Harrier FA.2 sure is about the best we’ll get. Maybe Tornado F.3 CSP?
I think it’d be good in SB but at ARB it would be dogshit DOA again
I’d still take the FA2 over the CSP. but yeah, I reckon CSP is just too easy for them not too add it. Question is, seperate aircraft, or upgrade to what we’ve got
