Again, unless they only add Aim-120 to ICE and Sea Harrier FA2 to be on par at 12.3. So SARH vs ARH (at this point, only way to create balance for 2 maybe 3 nations going forward) . F-16C would have to move up. 12.7 minimum maybe even 13. Look at the problems the F-16C and others are causing to the current lot of 11.3/11.7s If you throw ARH into that mix, you might as well delete that BR bracket, it would be truly unplayable. So they would have to move up, 12.7 would be an absolute minimum for it. That means 12.7 easily this year.
and no rules to say they have to add 12.7s beyond that.
11.7 was essnetially skipped. Very few nations got 11.7s and they were mostly fillers or uptiers. Most went 11.3 to 12. (britain is essentially going to go from 11.3 to 12.3, and would have done if it wasnt for Aim-9M on the Gr7) No reason we wont see 12.3 skip to 13 this december. Might be a better strategy to create seperation ahead of decompresison

Gripen C has comparable flight performance in some areas to the Typhoon and would be just as superior vs what we’ve got.
F-15 not that far behind either.
Any comment on these in regards to current game compatability?
Also what about other areas Britain could actually hold its own. Like will we see Brimstone anytime soon or again, are they “Too OP”?

Thing about Sea Harrier FA.2 is that it’s an amazing aircraft…
For its time.
When applied to War Thunder, it wouldn’t be top tier. It’s a 9.3 aircrafts flight performance, with a good radar and missile. But weapons don’t make a plane good. It would be absolutely slaughtered bt F-16s, F-14s, MiG-29s, hell even MiG21s would give it a run for its money.
FA.2 is a great aircraft IRL because of when it was used and how. Those two things don’t really apply to war thunder. So while I think FA.2 should come to Britain, the last thing we need is another goddamn harrier lol
We don’t need:
Harriers
Strike aircraft
Subsonics
Bombers
Interceptors
We need a supersonic afterburning aircraft, that can perform on par or close to MiG29s and F16s.
It would be eaten alive.
The list or aircraft that could do that is:
Atlas Cheetah
Gripen C
CF-18
F/A-18 (Australia)

While these would be nice, I feel like that would be too generous for Gaijin. I’ve been wanting F-16s for Britain for a while, the Pakistani F-16 Block 15 that New Zealand purchased is what I would really like, even though the deal was eventually cancelled, it still came to fruition, unlike the F-16AJ
Britain doesn’t really have an airframe that could do that, unfortunately.
Canada and Australia are our best bets and I suspect thats how it’ll go given the recent change of heart on Commonwealth in UK tree by Gaijin.
You could make a case for Eurofighter DA.2, given its an AIM9 only, no guns, worse engine eurofighter but…at that point its not super good.

F-16 for Britain is asking too much I think.
CF-18 and F/A18 would fit nicely in that “it exists, was used, and suits the aesthetic”

Yeah but F/A-18 would be way too advanced for Gaijin to give to Britain, so I’m thinking that an F-16 might be nice when F-18 comes.
Im guessing Smin statement was in reference to the DA2 at this point. Anything equal is unfair. Unless Smin was only referring to production models
But yeah, I hope they give us something. Anything other than a pitty C&P from another nation. After the year we’ve had, talk about ending the year on a low note. But even F-18 or Gripen would be way ahead of any F-16. So that would mean equal or better coming to all other nations and therefore we’d be at square one again, Either all nations in F-18s or all nations getting something better to compete with Gripen.
At which point, the argument goes away for Typhoon.
This is what I just dont understand. yes, Typhoon would be too OP vs current F-16s or Mig-29s. But all other options that could come next to any and all nations just close that gap.

Yeah. This is what is confusing me most. Typhoon now would obviously be storng, not saying it wouldnt be. But an early DA2 ish jet, with the right handi-caps would be 13.0. Gripen, F-15C, Su-30, these would all also likely be at minimum 12.7 maybe even 13.
The only aircraft that might not be a big jump would be an early F-18, which could come to many nations, but not all. Still going to have to add something to thsoe as well.
At which point Typhoon just makes sense. Britain we have some bodge job additons, Germany though? Japan? Israel? China? France?
The only reason not to add Typhoon at that point, is because other nations wont have anything higher than 13 as well. It would put Germany, Italy and Britain not only on truly equal footing, but other nations would be in the “BVR Truck” and we’d be in the Dogfighter. Again, this notion that minor nations have to take the BVR truck role, is confusing.
Tornado F3 [11.3] vs F-16C [12.3] = Fair
Typhoon DA2 with Handicaps [13] vs F-15C [13] = unfair
Gripen is confirmed as coming so there’s already a capabilty leap happening here.
Australian aircraft are already in the British TT by default.
Canada too if I remember right.
If F18 was to come, i’d be happy for it to go to every nation that has one or can have one. There’s no exclusivity here, I just want one (1) singular useful jet fighter for Britian.
The UK air tree is one of the largest in the entire game and the grind is lethal. But the reward at the end is getting stomped. There’s nothing good about top tier britian. So either:
SAAF Gripen C comes
CF-18 comes
Australian F18 comes
Or some other aircraft like BAe Hawk 200, Atlas Cheetah, or some other jet comes that can fill the gap.
Eurofighter wont be coming soon it seems and a top tier jet is confirmed so…what’s it going to be?

As much as I want to see Harrier FA.2, I dont want to be stuck flying the same brick airframe while everyone gets modern avionics suites, 9G supersonic dogfighters from the 2000s
Yeah thats the thing. If no F-2 because “Too OP” then that means Japans only AMRAAM carrier will be F-15
F-15 with AMRAAM for Japan = F-15 with AMRAAM for US
F-15 with AMRAAM = Typhoon
So… Does that mean nothing for Japan this year or next as well?
