Ki-87 needs an airspawn, be it Interceptor or Air defence fighter, it doesn't matter, and so does the J7W1

I am in the minority camp which actually supported P-47 airspawns back then, funny enough. And yes, for the same reason, so long as Air RB is a mind-numbing TDM, slow-climbing interceptors like the Ki-87 and J7W1 do need either an airspawn, lower BR, or both.

I mean main reason for their hight br was Japanese 30 mms (before the nerf) now after the nerf they aint nearly as good acurate one tapping machine yet all the planes that had higher br because of them kept the br. Only thing that got slightly down br lately was Ki-200 but that wasnt because of the guns but because of the fuel time and other changes (still higher br than german 30mm Me 163 for some reason). So I guess in gaijins eyes they are still those “good” guns that needs 1 br higher above its flight performance as it is with ki-84 for example that has flight performance version in 5.3 and one with 30 mms at 6.3.

I would like to let J7W1 move to 5.7; J7W1’s performance is terrible, not only getting airspawn, but also needs to move down. The only good thing it has is firepower, but due to only 60 rounds for each, that’s still pretty hard

Yeah, I frankly think the J7W1 is performance-wise more like an Fw-190A-8, but slower at low alt and faster a high alt.

this needs to happen even WITH an airspawn. The J7W1 is an AWFUL aircraft in RB.

actually i liked it a lot at 6.0, it just takes way more brain usage than anything, crazy hot take but i think it’s better than the Ki-83, Ki-83 is easier to use just because it gives you early game shots but that’s it, a high altitude J7W1 is a menace, I’ve only seen one other guy say this so far but I agree with him.
seriously the Ki-83 is just so slow it’s astonishing to see the P-38K sit .7 lower.

So what is it good at? The problem is that you can like something that is awful. J7W1 does not have good speed. It does not have good acceleration. It does not have good turning. It does not have good climb rate. What does this mean? It means you will be caught and killed by any single engine fighter.

have you played it after the january 2025 FM buff?
it’s like an MB.5 but way better at everything, just as fast tho

when I played the J7W1 some weeks ago the matchmaker was way kinder with me, Ki-83 is getting me constant 7.0 against F-89s and stuff and it’s atrocious, I seriously wish they just gave jet size maps more often for 5.7 and ADF airspawned the Ki-87 it would then become amazing, any 6. prop that isn’t P-51H or G56 seems ill equipped to face jets icl.

GJN never adjusted BRs on weapons, only on success over time. So now it’s a whole mess, and we all have to wait till GJN decides to check stats. And even than it will be still a mess, you can see it on the ME163s/Ki-200. The Me 163 B gets the fuel nerf too, but still stays at 8.0.

It’s funny cause, as it currently is, it lacks about 100 something of its actual speed. Gaijin basically made it a flying brick.

Well, to be more correct, the former Chinese “Advisor” who advised on the Japanese stuff purposely made it perform like shit.

I would need to rewind time, aka gonna be a while before I respond. Cause mind you, it was that far back. But the impact of then is still felt.
