Keybind hell of air battles

This is just madness.

Recently they added a update in which if your radar has tracked someone and if that someone happened to need the rotation of the radar dish for illuminating purpose, the radar dish will stay jammed in place.

Apparently, some planes radar reset their position automatically; I’m not a pilot in real life so closest thing I got is DCS threads.

This feature is like forcing every plane to spam tap G to deploy landing gears, because one (1) plane, the F4F, demanded 28 turns of the handler of the landing gear (loading tip).

Let’s face it, the controls are already clumsy enough! Can’t you take a hint from all these FPS games and just have keys cycle through particular weapon type? (1 to change between pistols/IR missiles, 2 to change between rifles/SARH missiles etc etc).

The more the new features are added later, the more keybinds will be demanded. Can you imagine when the very antiquated EW mechanics are added? Then we have many more unsimulated radar elements, such as radar sensitivity that is used by RIOs. I can tell you there will be 3+ binds to use EW effectively alone.

This should really be an option, instead of being forced. It’s very annoying, especially in TWS mode where it sometimes tracks the target you didn’t want to track.

This is why combo keybinds are super useful. E+1/2/3, ctrl+E, alt+E, N, R, and \ are the only keybinds I need to control all the functions of the radar that I use. Using the alt and ctrl keys are also super useful, as well as any buttons on your mouse if you have them. I’d also recommend using the Y+num menu for stuff you don’t use often.

Be glad you aren’t using a controller.

Well the thing is, I am using a controller simulated on a phone screen (I play via steam link mobile app lot) and have exhausted my keybinds, and soon to exhaust combo keybinds (that is reasonably accessible.

In addition to being optional, I also think more mechanics and future mechanics (if) such as RIO radar gain, should be automated to a reasonable degree, maybe with manual options. (Such as bomber gunners that can be both auto and manual)

I literally have three extra keybinds for top tier over playing 1.0 this is very very much a you problem.

Multifunctional menu?

this actually explains a huge amount of your complaints about the game. You just want war thunder to be war thunder mobile. I must give credit where credit is due for evenbeing able to do anything in war thunder on a phone screen

set radar/irst to lock and fire flare/chaff

What BR u playing?

this is from 8.3 with javelin all the way up to 14.0 with the Eurofighter. Top tiers fundamentals are not much different to mid tier in reality. its just far faster and hectic

Yeah theres a lot of keybinds an argument could be made that there a too many but dont you only need one button to drop bombs?

I assume you use the multifunctional menu a lot? Well respect to you that you managed to make it work; I myself prefer direct keybinds to using the menu, even when on a computer with a keyboard.

How would you handle something like ACM mode and target changing that demands quick key pressing, and resetting of IR missiles seekers (although radar/IRST slaving is a decent non stealth alternative)

Not really…pure base bombing would be inefficient and frustrating.

I mostly play SARH tier where the SARH missiles are easiest to use on mobile and doesn’t demand complex manuvers/situational awareness requirements.

not really no. other than to turn my radar off a a radar of often more of a hinderance than assistance in ARB.

by not getting into situations where I’m fumbling which missile to use. i use the default loadout selector if I have to switch missile type, I have keys bound to my mouse for elevator controls and can use my left hand to to rudder and yaw without issue during this

I think I got it to reset before by either tracking someone successfully and then releasing lock or swapping to irst and back. However this has happened quite a while ago maybe it’s not the same thing you’re talking about.

Funnily enough this only affects cyclic. I see a lot of people complaining about it so they might switch it back.
