Justification for Hunter F.6?

I thought the Vampire, Venom and Hunter F.1 were bad. We already had the trifecta, but it gets worse with the F.6. A subsonic flareless fighter with essentially no AAMs vs MiG-21’s(most undertiered and brain-off jets in the game imo), MiG-19’s, Draken’s… basically every other aircraft has afterburners, countermeasures, decent AAM’s, and breaks the sound barrier without a second thought.

I know Gaijin is absolutely butthurt over the entire concept of Britain existing, but are we really going to be that sour? Probably the most overtiered line of jets in the entire game. This entire battle rating got recompressed quietly but you can still be sure that if it was a USSR or USA aircraft that was this overtiered, it would be patched out within a week.

The SRAAM are really fun if you know how to use them. They go after flares easily yes, but usually people don’t give af about you so you can easily sneak up on them, I do decently in it.
If it were to get lowered to 9.3, it would farm any jet that doesn’t have flares quite easily since there’s no out-maneuvering a SRAAM without flares.

I’m someone who enjoys difficulty and a challenge and for that reason I do enjoy the SRAAM’s, however the only way you’re dying to an SRAAM is if a Hunter is 2km< from you and you’ve got no energy left or pulled a poor maneuver at altitude. Sabres for example can easily just barrel roll out of the way as long as they’re not borderline stalling, and MiG-15’s can just out accelerate it. You only die to an SRAAM if you really fucked up in either energy management or awareness.

Its a legacy BR.

Back in the day, SRAAMs were really really potent, but these days are incredibly weak missiles and are borderline unusable due to bugs.

They have multiple outstanding buffs that could bring them back into a competitive nature. Such as doubling the range of the SRAAMs.

In the long term though, we need a decompression. If you look at all the Hunter BRs (and even the Harrier’s such as Harrier Gr1 that also has SRAAMs) the 9.7 BR is a total mess

Completely agree, I was going to make a post on this yesterday. The MiG-21’s are absolutely criminal ever being able to face half the aircraft they do. They are far, far too fast and have far too potent radar/IR missiles. They outclimb, out-accelerate, outspeed everything. The only real downside is their gun ammo count and energy retention, which really doesn’t account for much unless you try and dogfight everything you see. The whole battle rating needs a total review.

Hunter F.6 is quite damn fun now. Grinding event star with it. The SRAAM buff is everything. 2KM range is a game changer. Also, Hunter F.6 may seem slow, but its energy retention is fantastic. Once you get fast, you stay fast. Anyway, I had a negative KDR (air to air) in it from prior to the SRAAM patch, and I’ve already fixed that. The lack of flares isn’t even an issue, btw. Most of the stuff with all-aspects or troublesome missiles (AIM-9D) are slow themselves with much worse energy retention.

@Morvran you tried it much since patch?

A bit. Uptiers still annoy me and I just can’t be bothered with SB at the moment

This one took me by surprise but why?

It’s subsonic, not that manoeuverable, no flares. There’s better aircraft at a lower BR.

Seriously having a hard time understanding how players in mostly supersonic aircraft with flares being unable to keep a 2.0km distance or spam flares (Ayit players, F8 players, A-10 players) from Hunters merits an uptier.

Pretty sure they’ll just forget about it after making it unplayable, as they do with minor nation aircraft that end up bothering main nation players.

Still, why?

StAstStics… most likely

The SRAAM buff made it has what’s essentially 4 free kills at 9.7, so Gaijin forced it to 10.0. They’re also allergic to decompression which makes any BR changes so much worse.

Tbf not like it can go down either, the other hunters also suck. Any that aren’t using the new wing design are even worse. 9.x is just super compressed (Still strange the Hunter FGA.9 has stayed at a manageable BR for a while tho, would’ve expected gaijin to nuke it for being solid)

british tax.

and now you have a flareless plane facing aim-9L every match

Overhauled SRAAM has the range of aim9j, and 4 thrust vector aim9js at 9.7 is wild

Or Compression. Next!

British bias

Not anymore, they nerfed them again.
That’s the joke, they buffed SRAAM in range, then the Hunter went up to 10.0, then they nerfed range.

Or they are buggy versions of R-60s, such as those found on the supersonic Su-17M2 at 10.0, or the subsonic Yak-38 at 9.3

Heck, you still have the Harrier GR1 at 9.7 with 4x SRAAMs.

Gaijin just increased the BR of the Hunter F6 because Gaijin.

It was such a Gaijin thing to do. Give it a buff so that it was actually enjoyable… … and then uptier it.

Yep. Arguably the buff just changed the F6 from being a 9.3 aircraft to being a 9.7

But its not the first time this has happeend. F6 has been whacked up to 10.3 before, then rather rapidly went back down again to 9.7
