J'ing out on airfield not working

This function makes me lose my mind. Why is it that it sometimes works, and sometimes it doesnt? I had countless games in which i landed on the support airfield (both broken and intact) and upon holding J i was able to respawn at the main airfield with different loadout. Sometimes, this doesnt happen and instead i am considered dead and taken back to hangar. Is there any logical reasoning for why this happens? Can anyone explain how does this mechanic actually work?

For instance, i have also seen people doing this more than 10x times a game in order to not be spawn killed. I really cannot wrap my head around this.

It always works.

You have to be undamaged, and stopped on the airfield.

I’m pretty sure you have to be still, fully repaired, and fully rearmed to change your loadout and not kill you. Every time I don’t meet one of those criteria, it always kills me. I could be wrong, though; that is what works for me.

nah that aint possible. I always belly land in my mig21 and damage myself doing it. I basically never land undamaged, and it still worked many times

I think the only criteria is being undamaged. I sort of remember being able to do it while damaged ever so slightly but I’m willing to bet there’s either a threshold or I’m remembering wrong. Just wait until you’re repaired at the minimum.

Then stop belly landing.
Your problem was self-caused.

interesting, since i definetely did it even while damaged after belly landing. Could there be a limit to damage you can have to still respawn?

Can u share a video?
Afaik if u damaged even slightly then its gonna make u leave the game

Nah, all you gotta do is not recieve any damage from enemies on your airframe or not be severly damaged due to your own flying in order to J out and change your loadout. Also consider J-ing out only after you are fully stopped and after the rearm timer appears

don’t get damaged by anything, problem solved.
even a slightly scratch the HUD doesn’t show (no yellow part/orange part/black part) basically counts as damaged and can count u as killed.
just land and be sure u fully stop (0km/h, and wait 2secs after fully stopping since the wobble of the plane can ACTUALLY count as ejection and eject u from the plane).

You can’t, Even an AA can shoot you and deny you your insta repair.
The worst part? Sometimes the plane’s x-ray in the left bottom corner won’t pop up.

I believe you can J out at <30km/h. But I always check by tapping J to see if it says if by doing so a kill may get credited to someone. If it just says leaving aircraft, I think it’s safe.

Though I don’t think it has ever failed me, it may also not work if I have to believe some people in random matches. Maybe server desync or something, or damage not showing as you say, idk if the latter can be verified checking the J out warning.

The criteria is damaged by someone else. Self damage doesn’t count, but sometimes you can’t respawn neither you get a death, for whatever reason. And as said before, sometimes slight damages, especially from AI, are invisible.

i still remember at least 4 times i got killed by an AI AAA that shooted my engine and since the damage isn’t modeled then i crash cuz my engine died in the middle of the match.

Sometimes I J-out undamaged but the game doesnt let me back in, it’s very rare, but it’s happened to me a few times at least. No clue why it happens.

No damage
Fuel remaining(?)
Below 30km/h

I regularly slide on and J out at 20-ish km/h and am able to respawn fine

Not rearmed, I use it to skip the long reload/ refuel time on low skill crews, but otherwise that’s pretty much the criteria that I have experienced, there might be some leeway for speed, but I just stop to be on the safe side

even taking a hit that doesn’t show any damage will return you to the hanger in my experience with it
