Bowie says it should actually be 10x-12x but I have no idea where those numbers come from, at least the 10x. If anyone can help me out I would appreciate it, no idea how sights work in game and what Gaijin considers the “direct sight”

Perhaps a gunner’s periscope and direct sight magnification.
If that is the case… Abrams would be 8x-10x for direct sight magnification and gunner’s periscope.

No, daytime magnification of the M1 Abrams series is 3-10x. It’s includes the value of direct sight.

Magnification of the direct sight is ignored if it is higher than the minimum magnification and lower than the maximum magnification.

Green is for thermal, red is the main sight, blue is direct sight.

1x magnification for gunner’s sights is not implemented, So we need to forget the 1x magnification mentioned in the spec sheet, and we have 2 values left.

  • 10x, magnification of the main sight
  • 12x, magnification of the direct sight

Therefore, magnification should be 10-12x

Yeah me too that’s why I asked if it was for a movie as a prop 😅

If we can’t implement 1x sights, we can make them 2x-10x.

Yeah it just seems weird to just… go to the extreme of making the sights crap at 10x-12x instead of just compromising and making it 2x-12x if you don’t want to implement 1x sights.

We understand that 1x sights are not implemented in game for various reasons, however completely removing the low power ability of this sight makes no sense. If 1x cannot be done, the low power setting should be 2x or 3x. The solution should not be completely removing the low power ability of the optics or making it a 10x-12x or 8.8-10x only, like it is currently in game.

It is more historically accurate to try and add some aspect of the low power than remove it entirely. Its also a massive hinderance, and inaccurate, to be stuck with sights without a lower magnification option.

On the contrary, a large part of tank combat is knowing where you can penetrate the enemy vehicle - 90mm HEATFS at 6.7 solves that issue easily. The Type 61 is decently fast as well, and is pretty responsive. May not be the easiest tank ever to play, but it’s not hard by any means.

I’d like both, if for nothing else to expand the excellent 6.7 GRB japan lineup.
