Japanese Weapons Master Thread

The ground interference right now comes from them being modelled as contrast seekers, and the contrast naturally being lower near the ground when compared to in front of the blue sky.

An imaging seeker would track the initially locked image, therefore be less reliant on contrast making it much harder for the target to “blend in” with the surroundings and fool the seeker. I don’t think it’d completely ignore any interference, but it’d be able to distinguish the targets image even in lower contrast situations than the purely conrast tracking seeker.

yeah, the visible band image homing is a separate mode, unlike in IR+UV, where the UV channel is a secondary discrimination channel in use in tandem with the IR homing to help reject IR signatures which do not sufficiently decrease the background UV radiosity.

There are probably some advantages to resolution and consequent target discrimination for the Type 81/91 against the Strela, but it’s in all likelihood effectively emulated via the range of acquisition difference, which is already present in-game. What other characteristics there may be would require more precise information regarding the differences in their systems.

Excuse for off-topic. Have not found the main aviation topic.
There is some information about Japanese engine fire extinguisher.

Probably it has engine fire extinguisher because there is 2 extinguishers. Automatic and manual one. All previous planes use only manual extinguisher for engine and automatic for fuel tanks. So, I think the manual extinguisher is for engine and automatic is for fuel tanks.

Looks like they had. In the table of difference between A6M2 and A6M3, there is no any mention of fire extinguisher. But in table of A6M3 and A6M5 there is the mention that engine fire extinguisher was removed but fuel one added. So A6M3 and A6M2 could have engine fire extinguisher

Probably, somebody else have information about Japanese engine (it is important because there is no fuel tank fire extinguisher in game) fire extinguisher on other planes from books or manuals?

Thinking to add the same table with fuel tank fire extinguishers.
Does somebody has something about it? Maybe the information about effective of this systems?

Isn’t the A and B in AAM-5 reversed?

You may be right ill have to revise that…thanks for pointing it out ill just leave this instead

It’s not being added. Not unless Gaijin wants a mass amount of Controversy.
The only one that will possibly get a chance of being added is the 2 20mm interceptor variant, which had no warhead. Since its similar to the BI with more fuel.

Was too late in the war by then.

In this commonly shared sceenshot, the sparrow is quoted as having 32g’s per axis, with 45g’s in dual plane. However in warthunder, it only has 25g’s. Is there a particular reason for this?

Or is this just a representation of a generic normal missile.

That is just a generic missile that has the same guidance method and layout as the Sparrow.

Something I just noticed. Germany has Anti-Ship missiles and being used for ground lol why cant they just give Japan their Anti-Ship missiles too and GCS-1??? So unfair bro.

Gaijin gave up on anti ship missiles on planes for now…i still think we should get GCS-1 and be allowed to use it on ground vehicles.

But unfortunately, the good approved for possibility to attack ground targets is needed…

There’s quite a bit of evidence that implies the GCS-1 would have no issue tracking tanks as well as boats and ships.

Have you submitted this already?

Do AMRAAMS have this type of feature as well?

(In reference to AAM-4s motor)

Japan BVR missile version with RAM jet tested but never put into use.
