Yep, though I believe this may just be an excuse to justify their balancing decision to limit the F-16AJ.
I’m starting to believe Gaijin never wanted the F-16AJ in game, they just wanted an early F-16 to fill a gap and molded the AJ into that role.

This is accurate because back in the old forums when it was suggested, it ended up being denied. Which was why when we were hyped up for a Japanese Gen 4 back before the AJ, but after the F-16A, we thought they meant XF-2A because what else could it be.

Anyone with AAM-4 experience? just recently unlocked AAM-4s and wondering how to use them. should they be better for longer ranges?
Overall you really are just better off with AIM-120’s by and large at least in the current game state.

Yep, and they are gonna soon be deleting the entire old forums which is both silly and incredibly dumb. Cause who knows how many pictures no longer are easy to come by on the internet that remain on the forums, hell I’ve found a couple i’ve never seen thanks to the Old WT forums.
they miiiight be better for killing people trying to multipath cause of the bigger warhead but that’s wishful thinking.

AAM-4 turn better at closer ranges. I use both AMRAAM and AAM-4. Under 8 km I use AAM-4, above AMRAAM.

Huh i see…kind of weird shouldn’t the AAM-4 be the better long range missile?
They butchered its stats into the ground. I still only use AAM-4 since I like the all domestic loadout

Did some testing in a custom match against just some bots and such and- it doesn’t feel like the AIM-120/AAM-4 have much difference between them overall now, though it feels like technically the AAM-4 does have a slight edge in firefights past 25km’s, it doesn’t feel like either pulls much harder than the other at least in the quick run I did in a custom match

It’s not big difference. But in a situation where enemy is flying at very hight closure speed to you, but you are flying not at him, you can fire AAM-4 in off bore shot and then proceed to turn to notch easily, since AAM-4 has the fins to pull a lot to kill the enemy while you are in a notch and you defeat his missile.
