We are supposed to have the live server test for new aphe at some point. I suspect they are waiting until after the holiday season. After that, there isnt much going on so it would be a decent time to run the test.
I just hope that it gets enough votes to be added to regular mm. The change would be welcomed by a good number of tanks.
Considering the enemies you face it is an okay round. You still shooting the same weakspots as everyone else but the fact that aphe one-shots at those spots while you are not sure if it can reliably take out the gunner to save ur life.
The T95 has at the very least 300mm of armour on the front. So it can die to 305mm HEAT-FS from things like the Ru 251.
I agree that the T95 has a better armour profile than the Jagdtiger, as well as having a more useful gun, but the T95 is significantly slower than it, which is the reason why the Jagdtiger is not much lower than the T95.
The Tortoise (although not having APHE) has a more sensible gun. The AP from the tortoise can penetrate most things frontally with relative ease (and can 1-shot fairly reliably if you shoot center mass), as well as having a much quicker reload than the Jagdtiger (8.6s instead of 18.2s).
They are both decent at 6.7, but I wouldn’t say they’re quite practical in most cases you’d find yourself in an actual match.
It’s an ap round it needs extra pen to spall properly and it is hitting the same weakspots as any other gun at this br and it has no HE filler, yeah sure call the gun nice without addressing the disparity.
I have played 3 games. I will post screenshots of the leader boards. I died twice but they were from cas. I was only penned in the first game, top screen shot.
Again, you don’t acknowledge that the Jagdtiger has a 18.2s reload, which is much worse than the Tortoise’s. Most places you shoot are the same as that with the Tortoise, this is true. However, you can shoot the turret of the Tiger II H and fairly often overpen and detonate the ammunition behind the crew. Most APHE rounds would only take out the turret crew and no more, requiring at least two shots to kill.
You wouldn’t have many issues with dealing with the UFP of T34s with the 94mm gun either, and I can tell you that there are quite a few that struggle with doing that consistently (if the T34 angles), such as the Tiger II H and T-44.
Tortoise also has a much better horizontal guidance than most TDs at this BR (-20 / +20 degrees compared to -10 / +10 degrees with the Jagdtiger).
This means that you can angle your armour and have to worry less about not being able to get gun on target after getting your transmission / engine taken out, unlike with the Jagdtiger.
More pen, and 700+ g TNT eqv on an aphe shell, sure make an argument about the reload but russian 122 also has a longer reload with less pen but it is still balanced based on its one shot potential. Sure angle all you want ur tortoise, it doesn’t eliminate the cupola and a new flat spot that is created elsewhere. As i said 250-180=70, obv it’ll spall okay in the tiger turret, yet you can’t compete with aphe from the same tier jagdtiger which has superior armor (you don’t even need to engle the jagdtiger most of the time lol) and talking about armor, the jagdtiger has a measly little mg port that is really hard to hit as the only frontal weakspot, talk about a fat chonky boy that leaves u helpless. Compare that to tortoise, it has a huge cupola, huge mg port with flat armor in the vicinity, flat gun mantlet, relatively flat lower hull near the transmission. All of these combined makes for various options to face a tortoise with. Add to this fact the gun uptiered to 7.7, nahh spare me. Whereas if the tortoise does go down to 6.3, same things will still be able to pen it in the same spots, it’ll just be saved from the 7.7 hell where it’s gun is obsolete and it’s armor is useless and it didn’t have mobility to begin with.
I don’t have exp with the vehicle so I can’t tell if u r right, but I’d bet that the jagdtiger will have an easier time killing a t34 than a tortoise if what u say is correct lol.
